Nothing is required except to shift to drive. You can shift in and out of neutral at any time while in motion; it does not matter how you got to neutral.

Y'know, I never go into neutral--maybe you don't have to use the brake to get into drive from there. I guess you can put it into neutral on purpose and try both ways (hold the shift lever to "N" for several seconds to put it into neutral). I always go to drive from park, and you do need to use the brake there.

I use neutral sometimes if i got a long shallow downhill road and i dont feel liek feathering the while way. you do not need to use the break at all to go from neutral to drive again. it goes in and out smoothly.

Impossible to diagnose now without seeing the cabin video or the black box data. Let us know if it happens again.

Notice how we haven't heard from the original poster in a week. Guess he's scared to post "Oops! Looks like... heh heh... it was my fault after all."

Actually, he just posted yesterday; two posts above yours.

When trying to do failure analysis, it is sometimes useful to try to recreate the fault under the same conditions. It occurs to me, that someone could try to duplicate the same conditions as much as possible. According to the OP, the trigger for the malfunction was changing the A/C settings. (however, it may have been coincidental)

The only anomaly was the possible use of 91 Octane fuel instead of 87 Octane fuel. The Tech Training manual indicates that this may cause starting problems.

It would be possible to try to recreate the situation using both 87 Octane and 91 Octane fuel .

You're right (my fault, probably did typo in search).

Well, we'll just have to see what the Black Box says...
