Updated: 7/29/2007: The festoon bulb fit in the housing!

Mod, can we have a separate Product Review forum?

In this review, I will be presenting you with my installation and impression of BlueX LED Dome/Door/Box LIGHT with 28 white LEDs. They make many different version with 8/9/10/12/14/15/16/18/24/28/40 LEDs in Red/Green/Blue/Yellow/White colors. This review is for the 28 White LED version and it draws about 3 Watts of power. The OEM Incandescent bulb is rated at 5 Watts.

I ordered it from Dealextreme on 7/9/2007. It was shipped on 7/10/2007 and I received it on today (7/17/2007). It cost me $9.94 (no tax) and Dealextreme offered it with free shipping. The delivery took 6 business days and it came from Hong Kong. The product seems well made and I am not an expert on electronic to review it in technical detail.
The installation was extremely easy. Here are the picture I took step by step while installing.

The picture was taken with the camera flash on my Prius rear seat.

This picture was taken after the installation under 28 LED own light without flash. Notice the color difference and my shadow.

I simply connected the festoon wire to the LED module.

The festoon bulb barely fit into the housing.

After the installation, this picture was taken with the camera flash.

This one was taken without the camera flash.

This picture shows the contrast between the LED and the street lamp. The front dome LEDs are 1 Watt Xenon bulbs from ebay.

This is the view from outside showing the brightness.

I took a quick video after the installation. My rear windows are tinted with 35% Visible Light Transmission.

I am very please with this product and it is a well spend 10 bucks.

I have not measure the power it draws yet. I have been busy adding B-Quiet Ultimate to all four doors. The LED was acting funny and as I was playing around with the switch (ON/OFF/DOOR) while having other LEDs turned on, the Dome fuse blew.

The radio, clock, MPG history, Dome lights, and Smart Key System died as a result of it. I could not even lock the car with the remote. I thought my 12-volt battery died because I had my LED lights on while finishing up the B-Quiet install. I started up the car by inserting the Smart Key into the ignition and the car turned on! I am now using the spare fuse in the box and the white tool that came in the fuse box is very helpful to pull out and insert them.

I still need to investigate what blew my 15 Amp Dome fuse and measure the power of BlueX LED module.

It's a pitty the leds bluew your fuse. I was looking also for a good led replacement.
Be shure to keep the progress posted inthis post, I would like to knew :-)
S.th. else: I see you have the door leather cover.
Which ones are those? Where did you get them and what did they cost? Was it easy to install?
I'm looking for armwrest cover also.

So many questions :-)

The fuse probably blew due to the loose connection of the festoon. When I opened it up, I found it loose. This time, I tried to install it properly and it went in! I was going to remove the end metal caps from the festoon bulb and cut (to shorten) the plastic tube. There is no need for all of that. The bulb fit in fine.

My leather door armrests are from ebay (Prius Hood). The leather for all 4 doors cost me $80 plus $5 shipping. I did not like how it was supposed to install with Velcro so I custom install them by removing the panel.
