Hi all,

I'm in the market for a new '07 Prius and was wondering how close (above or below) MSRP people have been paying for one in the Seattle market.

Thanks,

Jim

I paid about $1,000 below MSRP a couple of weeks ago. Although, there is no longer a waiting list, Priis are selling before they even come off the truck in this area, and the dealerships have little motivation to negotiate.I had the best luck w/ the dealerships outside of Seattle - specifically the dealerships in Tacoma and Edmonds.

Of course, it also kind of depends on which package you want. I found the more expensive packages to be more readily available.

Check CarsDirect.com and see what the going rates are in your area. That will give you a basis for what you should expect.

Be sure and check Moses Lake. Several have reported good deals over there.

We paid $1,000 under MSRP on July 31st for a 2007 Package 3 right off the delivery truck.

We had a totally straight forward deal with Bob Bridge in Renton. No monkey business at all. We did most of our "dealing" over the internet, then when we went to get the car we were out the door in under 2 hours and most of that was learning about the car.

Good luck. We LOVE ours.

Back in 05 I paid MSRP (but saved $160 in taxes) for my Prius and waited two weeks for it to arrive. Bought it in Centralia at I-5 Toyota. Talked with the sales woman mostly via email and had ownership of my car in 15 minutes after arriving at the dealer - no bs. It was great!

I'm in La Conner and looking for a 2007 or 2008 (package #2). Last week I was told by a Costco dealer that the price was $23,000. Consumer Reports would say that's too high, but dealers aren't even calling me back. I'm a novice at new car purchases and unfortunately have decided I want a Prius--and nothing else--except for a plug-in hybrid which won't be sold until 2010 (Volt) or later. I did find a "broker" in Vancouver who could do $22,900.

The Prius may be lots of fun to drive, but getting one ranks down there with the flu.

Good luck.

Read through www.carbuyingtips.com. There may indeed be a plug in hybrid being sold in 2010 but I don't think you will find many here believing it will be a Chevy.

Good luck finding the car you want.

I hope you're right and that it is a Prius, but the recent Toyota press release on plug-ins was a bit discouraging.
