We've been calling the third (current) generation Prius the "'04 Prius" -- but that doesn't work any longer, since the '05s are out (and are identical to the '04s, with the exception of price and whatever interal manufacting improvements were made over the last year). The second generation is easier -- most people refer to it as the Prius Classic (at least in the US); I'd leave it with that moniker. The first generation is rarely mentioned in America -- I've heard most people refer to it as the "Prius MK1" (Mark 1) or "first generation Prius"; either of those work for me. So I have a V3.4 and now they are making the V3.5 edition. I was also thinking that now since it's the first year to qualify as a mid-sized car we could just call it the mid-sized hatchback Prius. It's not flashy, but it's true. Then again, we could just use the full name: Propelled Rightously In Ubercool Synergy |
