Hey all,can I fit 195/55/15 or 195/50/15 tires on my prius? I was looking at some Kumho Ecsta ASX or AST on TIRERACK for $41 for the AST and $66 for ASX. If the TPMS is an issue can I just not use it with new tires?

195 60 15 should be right If you go for a smaller aspect ration you will upset your speedo and odometer readings. I believe 185 65 15 and 195 60 15 have a very similar diameter. By the way, 195 60 15 are the standard fitment in Australia and maybe other markets outside USA.

Depending on brand and construction there may be about 6mm (1/4") difference in tyre diameter or about 1%.

If you fit 195 55 15 or 195 50 15 tyres your speedo will be out quite a lot and it may seem you get better economy but because the wheels have to make more revolutions to cover the same ground you may use more fuel. You will also be driving slower. I think it's best to try and stick close to the original overall diameter tyre.
