Canadian 2008 Prius - Rear disc brakes?

The Canadian 2008 Prius e-brochure shows a Prius with rear disc brakes on the front cover. I suspect that this is not a Canadian spec car because it does not show a keyhole on the driver's door, but it's going to be interesting to see whether my car arrives with rear discs.

I looked at your brochure (link) and did a detailed examination of the specifications on P. 15 and it says --- Power-Assisted, Ventilated Front/Rear Drums. Yesterday on the Toyota web site (U.S.) I looked at a Prius and based upon the options I wanted, the electronic brochure had the following specifications --- Power-assisted ventilated front disc/rear drum with Anti-lock Brake System (ABS).

Speaking of the specs in the brochure, what's up with the estimated mpg of 71/67/69? Are the Canadian mpg test standards that much different than the US EPA's? Or is the Canadian "gallon" different than the US "gallon"?

Hm.. Maybe in Canada it's kilometer per litre rather than miles per gallon?

Haven't you heard? The air's thinner up here, so cars slip through the air more easily.

Yes, the gallons are different. The US gallon is about 3.8 litres, and the 'Canadian' Imperial gallon is closer to 4.5 litres. Not everything's bigger in Texas.

No they state fuel consumption both ways - 4.2/4.0/4.1 kilometers per litre [EDIT/CORRECTION: litres per 100 kilometers] and 71/67/69 miles per gallon.

Thanks. That's what I thought. But I didn't previously know that Canada used the Imperial Gallon measure.

Yeah that's imperial gallons.

so if you think 4.6L/100km (51mpg) combined is hard, we have 4.2L/100km (57mpg) combined to match. Actually, your 51mpg is even worse than the 52mpg (4.5L/100km) combined rating in Europe.
