New Prius tax break the Netherlands

Imagine you live in the Netherlands and your job comes with a car. Your boss pays the lease and the gasoline, so you don't worry about mileage. Only down side: you have to hand over 13% of the MSRP in taxes to the government every year... That's how it works here (actually you'd need to add 25% of the MSRP to your income to calculate taxes, and chances are you'd then pay 52% in taxes over that last bit of virtual income).

Starting 2008, if that company car that produces less than 110 grams of CO2 per km, you only need to add 14% of the MSRP to your income. That's a net saving of almost $2000, every year. Prius shortages are expected here again (only the Prius and the HCH comply, and a handful of very small cars)...

I think that is mostly due to two issues. Ignorance of society and a misuse of taxes by government. Wow, that pretty much makes our whole system fubr'd hahaha.
