My Car: Other Non-Hybrid Package: N/A Nominated 15 Times in 1 Post TOTM Awards: 1Friends: 0 | I guess that really depends on what the WSJ considers a "hot car." <_< Could it be the article was talking about "increase in sales" and not "total sales"???? September Toyota Sales: "Passenger car sales were led by Camry, which posted best-ever September sales of 40,438, up 9.9 percent over the same period last year. Camry Hybrid reported sales of 4,196 units in September, up eight percent over September 2006. The Prius hybrid gas-electric mid-size sedan posted best-ever September sales of 12,494, an increase of 23.8 percent over September 2006. Corolla reported September sales of 29,550 units." http://www.toyota.com/about/news/corporate...02-1-sales.html ALTHOUGH . . . I did recently hear a Toyota radio commercial which said, " . . . the Prius is the best selling car in Northern California." * I looked, but could find no confirming information on the web.

[/quote] First of all ithe Caliber is a Dodge (or Diamler-Christler) product. Second the sales figures published in the Detroit Free Press, The top selling 20. (According to Autodata, whoever that is) For September showed the Prius DOWN by 8-12 percent compared to the same period in 06. Perhaps that is why the discount incentives are in place? The Prius is due for a makeover, however because the Prius design is more funnction than style. Which means the basic shape of the body will get minor tweaks (at best) I recently saw a picture of a 'concept' 2008 Honda Civic hybrid. The basic shape is the same as the Prius, front grill and headlight styles will be the only way to tell one from the other, from what I saw. |

My Car: 2004 Prius Package: Base Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 17 | Well seeing the tax credits for Prius have vaporised, for Prius to hold it's own and given the additional purchase price over similar size conventional cars and the fact Toyota cant sell them by waving an American flag it's good to see Prius in a publication, published in the Detroit Free Press, The top selling 20. (According to Autodata, whoever that is) What a great car!!! Hey I like my car to be different, if everyone buys one I'll have to look for another car. On second thoughts, I'll put up with it. |

My Car: 2007 Prius Package: #2 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 1 | One would think that (obviously) the number of Prii sold in the US is the same as the number imported. The limiting factor must be Toyota's capacity for building them. Also I think the maximum time on the sales lot has never been more than 2 weeks! Unlike GM, Ford, and Dodge who get in a load and can't unload them without thousands of dollars of local advertising and deceptively great deals. |
