Hi,

I'm getting ready to purchase my first Prius (2006). Could some kind Samaritan help me by running a Carfax check on it?

I only have access to Canadian data, that vin # doesn't show up.

There's an import board that I'm on that usually has at least one person with CarFax at any given time. I'll see if anyone can look that VIN up.

Does someone here read Chinese? Because a Google search on that VIN comes back with a .cn hit along with the English word Carfax.

I think he's just cheap. The IP address indicated on the Chinese page is from Comcast in the US, so he just may speak Chinese. It looks like that topic is for asking for free Carfax reports.

The board software defaults to the latest year and highest package, so if the person registering doesn't set it that's what their profile shows. (2008 #9)

I doubt it. He's checking to see if someone has purchased a 30 day unlimited VIN check for $30 and can just have them run the #.

It's not so humorous. These types of requests used to be made on other car message boards I'm on almost daily. In fact http://www.my350z.com/forum/forumdisplay.p...mp;daysprune=-1 was even a forum dedicated to this. They don't allow it anymore but people still posts some of these requests on other parts of the board.

Yes, it sounded cheap. BUT - I did have a 30-day Carfax subscription and it EXPIRED TWO days before I found an agreeable Prius on Craigslist. I did not want to renew that subscription for another month to check just one freaking VIN. (Thank you to the two posters who realized that).

As for those who made a stink about me being cheap, or this being a funny post, I say, get off your high-horses.

To the Chinese conspiracy-theorist, I say: "Booo!!"
