That's good to know. I replaced the OEM Integritys with Hydroedges in June. I've obsessed over the fuel economy hit they caused, but the handling on wet and dry pavement is much improved. We don't have ND-like snowfalls in these parts, but I'm glad to know they'll do well in our not-uncommon icy conditions.

The modifications that Evan is refering to above typically cost about $15,000 and leave you with no place for the spare tire.

Note that the traction battery in a Prius only holds enough energy to go one or two miles at most, under ideal conditions. So there really is no point in plugging it in, even if you could. The $15,000 modification adds enough battery capacity to drive about 30 miles, except that the Prius does not have a big enough electric motor for normal driving under electric only (the engine shuts off only when little or no power is being called for) so these "plug-in" modifications result in the car's running on about half gas and half electric during the first 60 or so miles.

So the short answer is, no, you cannot plug in a Prius.
