My Car: 2008 Prius Package: Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | I have a TomTom ONE XLS. I has a holder with a very effective suction cup. I put it about 1/3 of the way down the windshield in the center (under the rear view mirror by a little bit. And since it has a swivel, I can both turn it towards me, and am able to reach it to push buttons if necessary. I stow it in the tray below the CD player when I'm not in the car. It takes a little getting used to, but it functions like an HUD (Heads Up Display) in a plane. I can look straight ahead, keep eyes on the road and still see the GPS through the steering wheel. My Car: 2005 Prius Package: #6 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 1 | I purchased a suction cup windshield mount from Garmin GPS, XM, Sirius, Magellan GPS, Lowrance GPS, TomTom GPS, MIO GPS & RAM GPS Mount Authorized Dealer at MountGuys.com and it works great!! Purchase price was $39.00, but it was well worth it! It hasn't fallen off once in my wife's Acura since I purchased it. It is fitted for the TomTom, but you can specify any brand and it will be fitted for your GPS. The suction cup has a locking mechanism that reverses the suction of the suction cup so that it won't break loose or fall off. Definitely worth the $$ instead of having a broken GPS screen from falling off the windshield constantly. Also, the mount is kind of long so it will sit back closer to you than a regular windshield mount. No need to use it in my Prius since it has factory Nav. Good Luck!

My Car: 2008 Prius Package: #6 Touring Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | Wait, I have to ask, you just bought a 2008 Touring, with Package 5, and you turned down the Navigation? How did you do that? The main part of Package 5 is Navigation, what did they do yank it out, that would seem kind of dumb. |

I don't like windshield mounts and the bean-bag mounts could be downright dangerous in an accident (an object hurling through the air at who knows what velocity). I like the positioning of the vent mounts but not sure I would go that route if it was not easily removed at day's end. For now I've suctioned cupped it (Nuvi680) to the plastic forward-opening, drink holder in the center console. It's easy to see, and, being within an inch or two of my fingers, I don't have to stretch to access the screen. For those of you who have used the ProClip vent mount (or other vent mount companies) is the mount easily removed? |

My Car: 2006 Prius Package: #3 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | Chaprius, Enjoy your new Prius. Great car. I too, use an aftermarket navagation aid, a Garmin Nuvi 200. I have placed the Garmin mounting disc on a used DVD disc and this gives me a useful, portable mounting platform. When I'm driving, it sits just to the left of the MFD and it's pretty stable. When I'm navagating from the pasenger side, I'm careful not to place the unit over the passenger air bag modulue which is located directly infront (toward the engine) of the top glove box; the indention from the air bag covering can be seen on the horizontal part of the dash board there. You don't want anything between you and the airbag in a crash. I place it in the little window place far to the right. Works fine there. Probably there is little danger of a loose GPS placed infront of the steering wheel, since in a crash it would continue forward, not backward, harmlessly into the windshild. |
