Dogs in the Prius

Here's a completely unexpected pleasant surprise for me:

I just took my brand new border collie, Nipper, for our first ride in our brand new Prius. I was very pleasantly surprised to learn that Nipper can lie down in the back and still see outside through the lower rear window! I think she found that entertaining and relaxing at the same time.

My older compact wagon was great, but my other dog couldn't see out without standing up. She'd stand up for hours not to miss anything, resting her head on the front seats when necessary. Now, they can rest and watch at the same time.

I have a request for you--is it inappropriate in this forum to ask you to post a photo of your dog? My wife and I are certifiable about dogs and cats, and we lost our Boston Terrier, Casey, in Nov. 2003. We still miss him, and enjoy seeing photos of other persons' dogs. TIA.

My cat also likes to go for a ride in my Prius. He either lays on the dash on top of the MFD or he lays on the tonneau cover in rear. While driving I think a lot of folks just assume I have a fat stuffed cat doll on my dash.

Sasha thinks the Prius is a bit small. She really has little choice but lie down. She can barely stand with the seat backs down. She prefers the Ford Explorer. She is not impressed by technology. See my atvar for her picture.

My cats aren't allowed in my Prius. It truly is my last cat hair free space.

(Just remembered) I have had a guinea pig and a yorkie in my car, however. They were both in crates at the time.

Now now, if you have cats, you have cat hair. If you have dogs, you have dog hair.

Twice a year, I have to take my vacuum apart to pull all the cat hair out of it. And I accepted a *long* time ago that my vehicle, my home, and my clothes would be covered in cat hair. Doesn't bother me one bit.

If I'm feeling Evil at work, I pluck some cat hair off my sweater and sprinkle it around the office. Ah yes, cat hair, the "gift" that keeps on giving!

(chuckle) I remember for a few weeks after we got our first cat (some 12 years ago), I was constantly brushing orange tabby fur off my clothes. I came to realize it was pointless to try to keep up with the shedding...besides, it was sort of a way for the cat to establish ownership: "MY human! MINE!"

The cat people are trying to hijack the dog thread!! :guns: None of your cats can out shed a Newf. And yes they drool and are proud of it. You have to be tolerant to be a Newf person!

I've got a labrador puppy coming in April. I am thinking that she'll like the back of the Prius, even though she may have to lay down. And you also have to be tolerant to be a lab person.

I'll take your Newf and raise you a Saint Bernard. I grew up with 2! One was named Brandy the other was Muffin. After some years my uncle got his own St. Bernard and named him Biscuit. I love big sweet dogs. Muffin used to kill bugs for me. She'd take her giant front paw and squash them.
