A padded 3 inch or 4 inch wide 5-point belt with sturdy center release, like those used on race cars, would save more lives and prevent many of the belt-related injuries we see.

As far as damage to the crotch, if you already have a family it's no big deal. Seriously, a 5-point harness with anti-submarine (The 5th belt) would go a long way to minimizing that sort of "owwie."

I could recognized the seat belt in the movie.
I believe it is the SRS airbag and they set the belt correctly.

I can see why you are taking offense to the silver bashing remark. Silver car, silver cat, and Silver Sponsor. Just put KMO in his place by pointing out his invisible sponsorship color and tell him the only way for him to regain your respect is to donate to a level he thinks best represents the color of his Prius . . . then we will see just how strongly he feels about his choice in car color. :P

(Just noticed that my Bronze sponsorship level is the closest color to my Salsa. Hmmmm)

One of my favorite commercials is for Porsche. They talk about and show a craftsman hand-stitching leather, stretching it over the steering wheel, constructing the sunroof, taking absolute pride in his work. Then they cut to what you assume is the same car in the starting position for a crash test. As the car jumps to a start, the craftsman walks by an open door shaking his head.
