Screen Trip Meter not Resetting

This is the third time I've gassed up, and the screen odometer reading and MPG average did not automatically reset. The numbers stayed the same even after I reset the actual odometer to zero. What happened?

My guess is that the chronosynclastic mass fluctuometer failed, but I might be wrong. Haven't picked up my Prius yet so I'm not yet into these problems and questions; hope to be soon.

You said a couple things that're throwing me off....

You don't need to reset the odometer or anything else after refueling. Just get in and drive away from the pump. Anywhere from 10 feet to 150 yards (give or take) away from the pump the mileage and MPG should automatically reset (on the MFD). Pushing the ODO/TRIP buttons will only reset the Trip setting on the HUD by the speedometer.

You CAN manually reset the MPG and refill mileage thing by pushing the RESET button on the MFD touch screen, but you should not need to do that.

I have discovered that if I leave the car ig-on, by the time I have finished filling the tank, the guage is showing full and the consumption numbers reset almost as soon as the car moves.

if you push the Reset on the MFD does it change or not? if it does do you want to swap the computers in your car with one that does automatically reset??

I drive about 20 feet to air pump station, and wait for the fuel gauge bars to reach full, but the screen odometer stays the same. I have to hit the RESET on the screen each time after my fill up. It used to just reset it as soon as I start the car after the fill up.

Just keep driving, 20 feet isn't usually enough. Just drive down the road. I'd say if you hit 1/2 mile and it hasn't reset then do it manually and I'll admit there's something wrong. In my experience it sometimes resets almost immediately, other times I'll pull out from the pump, go to a stop sign, turn right, go to a stop light, then pull onto the main drag--probably 100-150 yards total distance before it finally resets itself. But it's never failed to reset itself within 1/4 mile.

I would love to have my MPG/mileage on the multi-function display not reset. It would be like driving a classic Prius and I bet I could get my average MPG reading higher and higher this way.

I manually reset it to track my mileage per fill up. I guess I'll wait a little bit longer next time.
