I noticed that 'jolt' while in park the other day. i had the AC going while I listened to the radio for 15 minutes. Of course eventually the battery got low and the ICE kicked in. You're right, it is rather unnerving when you don't expect it. I got the feeling like the rug was pulled from under me.

What was odd today is I turned the car on and put it in D and took my foot off the brake and it rolled backwards at idling speed, as if it were in R.  It then shifted to N and wouldn't shift out so I had to put it in P and power down, which didn't work normally either (I had to hold down the button for a few seconds with my foot off the brake).  Weird.

Sounds like the Hang on Ig-On. You can put the car in neutral in that mode, but it won't let you do anything other than power off with foot off the brake. I believe it is the immobilzer not finding the fob when it re-verifies authenticity when changing from Ig-On to READY. Did you happen to notice the immoblizer light on or blinking when this happened?

I experienced 'the jolt' last night, 1st time(at 850 miles). I came off the freeway, after a 10 min. trip, rolled up to a stop sign. As I turned right out of the stop sign at about 5mph there was a slight hesitation with a clank/thump.

In trying to re-call a similiar experience/sound, it reminded me of engaging 4 wheel drive, in a 98 yukon.

Traction control kicked in. With stock (Goodyear Integrities), the TC is quite sensitive. With the rain we got this morning, my TC kicked in alot during takeoffs. And I was just thinking a few weeks ago, how well TC had been doing lately

I know, that has happened to me before (only able to shift to N). But this time, it actually went into drive and was just going backwards. It was really odd, but hasn't happened again, so I chalk it up to computer error.

Well, got the Ig-On hang a couple of times, no indication of immobilzer kicking in.
