Default New Prius question

I have had my Prius for 24 hours now and its great. I have package #4. Is there anyway to have the car automatically lock after walking away? And can I install something that will automatically lock the doors once I start driving? What is the little red car light inside the car once you walk away and do not have the FOB with you?
Thanks
Lee

There is a mod at Coastaletech that will lock the doors automatically when you reach 15mph.

I know someone else has a mod locks the doors automatically when you start the car and unlocks them you shutdown the car. Don't remember where it was from though.

The red light is your theft-deterrent system light. It's to tell you that the system is armed (if blinking)

That little red blinking light tells the would be thief that there is trouble ahead if he breaks in. They know what it for.
Is it so much trouble to touch the little BLACK RUBBER SPOT on the door handle to lock the car? No keys necessary. Automatic locking on the road is also real tough if you cannot find the door lock on the door.
I know, we like bells and whistles, me too.

I touched the black button but it did not lock anything. The only way I can lock it is from the FOB that I usually have in my pocketbook so I have to dig it out of my pocketbook to lock it.

[font=Verdana:3c5d0342b6]When I drove my Plymouth, I always hit the door lock on the inside of the car door when exiting, and all the doors locked after I shut it (or after all the other passengers shut their doors). I follow the same procedure with my Prius and it works fine. I never have to remove my key fob from my purse this way.

But I miss the auto-lock feature I had with my Plymouth. After much thought, I have decided to purchase the auto door lock module from Coastal Dave. Once installed and operational, my doors will lock automatically once my Prius reaches a certain speed. Sure, I can easily lock the doors once I am inside the car. But my memory and habits are not fail-safe, and it is a small price to pay for peace of mind.[/font:3c5d0342b6]

This is odd. My sister and I both bought a Prius two weeks ago and hers is doing the same thing - the black buttons do not lock the car. Her second FOB is inside her house quite a distance from the car. If anyone has a clue about this we'd really appreciate it.

The black buttons should lock the car if you have the fob and all doors are closed. The inside button locks the doors whether closed or not.

If you leave your fob in your purse and your purse in the car the black button will not lock the doors. A long warning beep will sound to warn you of a problem. This is a good thing.
