Default Question about the battery... is it recyclable?

On another message board some hybrid haters brought up the point that although they use less fuel and release less emissions they use more batteries. Just wondering if they are recyclable and to what extent. Thanks.

Toyota carefully studied the entire life cycle of production for Prius, including raw materials, production energy, operating economy, and recycling, to confirm that it actually did save energy and reduce pollution overall. There are several summaries at http://www.toyota.co.jp/en/environment/recycle/

They also pay a $200 bounty for dead traction batteries (the big thingy, not the 12V thingy) to encourage recycling. So, no worries.

Most of the Prius (can't remember the percentage) is recyclable. The Prius may be clean when it's running but it's also clean to build and clean to dispose of (in a relative sense)
