My Car: Package: Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | I have a silver 05 prius pkg#5... I like the car very much , but there is always room for improvment. I would like to change the rear window. the split window is anoying and the wiper is to high. I would like to see one piece of glass hatchback with a wiper like on the elantra GT hatchback. I would like to see a 3inch longer front seat so it supports more of your thigh closer to your knee. ( I think the present seat is good for small japanese person ) I would like to have daytime running lights. I would like auto on headlights with the windshield wiper and at dusk. I would like auto door locking and unlocking. I would like to see a regular key come with the car that can start the car incase i lost the FOB. I am used to hiding a key on my cars for emergencys and I can't do this with the smartkey system. I would like to see dark tinted (privicy glass) option available. I would like toyota to get rid of the packages and let you add each indivual option. The way it is now you end up paying alot for options you don't want because you wanted one thing in the package. I would like to be able to set the maintenance light for oil change from 5000mi to 3000mi or what ever number I want as long as it is less than 5000mi. ( I believe in more frequent changes, I do it myself so cost is low ) Offer a full size spare as a option. remove the second shelf above the spare tire to give you more usable cargo area. I love my prius, but I hope adding this wish list will get toyota to make improvments. If they do, I won't keep this 05 prius for 10 years , instead I will trade it in for a 08 prius to get the new improvments. |

My Car: 2005 Prius Package: #5 Nominated 5 Times in 3 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 21 | The one-piece glass in back would be ridiculously expensive to replace shoudl it break, which is probably why they did it in 2 pieces. My husband drove a 94 Saturn for a few years. It was vandalized while he was at work (without his knowledge, someone got under the hood and did some damage and didn't fasten the hood back down) and on the highway on the way home, up went the hood and smashed his windshield. This Saturn was the kind with the curves on the sides of the windshield. Total replacement cost: $800. For reference, the flat windshield on my 90 Buick cost $250 to replace. And what second shelf are you talking about? I have more cargo room than I know what to do with!

My Car: Package: Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | I love my 05 Prius, but there's always room for improvement. Here are my suggestions for Toyota: 1) allow a la carte selection of accessories, no silly packages. 2) give us a real premium sound system, the JBL does not deserve that moniker. 3) improve steering and high speed stability. Steering is over-assisted, too indirect, and provides too little feedback. Suspsension is a little too soft for my taste (I know that is very personal preference). 4) Yes, auto-lock is a good feature, after reaching e.g. 5 or 10 mph, but I would also like to see an auto lock feature for the SKS, when walking away from the car. The car should be able to sense if anyone is left inside of the car, and if no one is and the FOB removed from car, it should lock. For me, that's the only way the SKS system would make sense - I'm really not particularly enamored with SKS at this point. 5) Front seat rails should extend further back. In my 2005 MINI I had more front seating room. 6) Height adjustable seats, and also optional lumbar adjustments and heated seats. 7) In terms of oil changes, for a green car oil changes every 5000 miles are a sin! Toyota should change to synthetic oil and a computer determined oil change interval based on numbers of cold starts etc.. My MINI had that and oil changes with such a system are only necessary every 15k miles. My first one in the MINI was at 12k, and subsequent ones actually at around 17k. Let's make the Prius truly green all around! Having said all that, the Prius is already an amazing car and an amazing bang for the buck. Kudos to Toyota! M |

(I lpersonally like lemon yellow cars, they're easy to find in a parking lot and cheerful on a grey rainy day. Green's nice, too.) I'd also eliminate the split rear window and allow the driver seat to adjust vertically. |

Yellow and green, a brighter red, a darker blue are just a few that might attract some buyers. | |

The dome lamps are fine but the map lights need better focus. They're more like floodlights and there doesn't seem to be a difference between them and the regular dome lamp |

My Car: 2005 Prius Package: #1 Nominated 3 Times in 2 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 6 | As long as they don't redesign the hatchback, I'm OK. I see an improvement in batteries and thus in other operating parts of the Prius in 5 years, so I imagine they'll be an improvement in mpg, performance and maybe even emissions. I imagine there will be changes to exterior colors. I'd like them to keep the white and black. I'd like to see a nice dark indigo blue/violet...where you can't tell whether the car is dark blue or dark purple. For interior I'd like to see the gray available for all exterior colors. I'd like to have access to all of the same options as in Japan. I'd like that Prius symbol on my car. I'd especially like the folding/signal mirrors. I'd like the parking guides, etc, etc. I'd like lights in the upper glovebox and console and on the drivers door when it's opened. I'd like a leather steering wheel and shift knob. I'd like a leather interior (including all door armrests). I'd like the plastic interior redone with perhaps a bit of texture so it's not so matte smooth and doesn't show scratches so much. I'd like the seats a little more comfortable. I can see the option of lumbar and heat for those in colder areas. I personally don't see the need to automate every little thing that needs adjusting, but then I'm the only driver so for those that share I can see the constant readjusting of the seat to be a pain. I do think they could use a much higher grade of foam in the seat. This car isnt' going to wear out. But the foam on that seat is going to have to be replaced in 3-5 years. And it could be designed a little better for more comfort. (If we can make memory foam for mattresses...why not for drivers seats?) I'd like to have had the option of a cassette without having to buy the 6 CD changer and upgraded sound system. There needs to be a seamless way to incorporate an iPod into the car. Absolutely. |
