If I am loathing over the need to drill into the "proper" locations for the US Domestic license plate holder at the front bumper, does anyone have a better twist? Is there a bracket mount that can extend through the front air dam grille? yeah,... down where the fog lamps are...

I need to know soon!

Many thanks!

Why do you want a front license plate? I think the Prius looks alot better with out it. There are only some states the require it. In the last 25 years, I have had been stopped 1 time for no license plate & it is only a fix it ticket. Keep the plate some place in the car and tell the cop if fell off the other day and you have not got around to putting it back on.
That's my .02

I took mine off the day I got the car. I, too, would venture that perhaps you should consider leaving it off.

On my early Miata there were several unique solutions. I had some angle iron bent so the tag was at a 45 degree angle for better airflow. The ends of the angle iron attached through the mouth. Luckily there were some bolts there which made it easy. There were also some high tech solutions that used springs to have the plate swivel back from air pressure as you sped up. I have not looked at the moutht of the Prius yet but if there is a place for bolts to go through, than some of the Miata type options would work.

There is a license plate bracket that angles downward and is sold as an accessory for Japanese market Prii. I think it's sold through Sigma Automotive. They also say that they take no responsibility for the angle of the plate defeating toll-booth cameras, so that may be a problem (fortunately, one with which I'm not familiar).

Thing is, you'll have to modify it to accept a US license plate since the bolt holes are in different places than in Japan.

I think I would drive plate-less until I was told, officially, otherwise. It's also a state requirement here in CA, but so are lots of other little regulations that no one really seems to pay attention to.

I'm such the scofflaw!!

Thanks for the lead. I've got a nice stack of $35 "reminders" from the KC's finest. I had thought about crimping/bending the plate to conform to the narrow space in the front air dam Grille, and still may do that. I've also thought about the nice detail that many Missouri and Kansas Rednecks use and just hang the plate from the grille with bailing wire...! Oh yeah,... that'd be a nice look.!

I never gave it any though. OH requires a front plate and I had the dealer transfer the tags. I have a license plate holder on that looks like it came with the car, so who knows....
