I was reading on this page (http://www.vassfamily.net/ToyotaPrius/Custommenus.html) that you can change the background of the energy monitor screen. I followed the directions (which I know are for an '04) but I don't have a 'Model Info' button. Anyone have any pointers on how to do this? I'd like to change the background to pink for my wife.

Unfortunately you cannot change the color of the background in a 2007.
Same with non-high-resolution 2006's.

The feature has been removed.

Thanks. That's a drag.

On another note...I see in the manual that there are different types of displays. Type I and Type 2 (and I think I saw 3.) What are the differences? I have a type 1 in my 07 (nav and leather) but what are the packages that get the various other type of screens?

You didn't miss much. We only have default green and an orange color. The green is okay but the orange looks rather cheap.

That's one thing I miss from my '04 Prius - the BLUE MFD display. I agree that the Orange is yuccchy, so I have stayed with the default.

I suppose there's always some "fly in the ointment." *SIGH* Aside from that, I love the '07 Touring.

On the European (Norwegian) 2007 model, you can easily change between two different background colours (green and orange) from the screen setup menu.

The Orange and Green from the 2006/2007 models isn't the same as the background colors that the guide Hryb linked to. Those are from the 2004/2005/low-resolution model. In those cases, the background/desktop/wallpaper could be changed to any of the four colors mentioned.
In 2006/2007's higher resolution models, Toyota made the background black, with choices of black, black, or black as other backgrounds. They did allow the accent color to be changed though (Orange and Green).

How sad to hear that you don't like the Orange. I find it quite beautiful. (As if you couldn't tell by my avatar or signature )

To answer Hryb's question about type 1 and 2 screens: Type 1 is a higher-resolution screen that was put on 2007/2006-with-NAV where as the Type 2 is the older screen found on the 2004/2005 and some 2006 (mainly early non-NAV versions).

(So in summary, Type 1 is higher-resolution with black background and orange/green accent choices, and Type 2 is low resolution with the four color background choices.)

Manksgloob,

That goes against what I am reading in the manual. I have a type 1 screen in my 07 (w/ nav) that is clearly the high rez screen. Am I missing something?

Blast, I had the type numbers switched around.

I've corrected the typo.
