Sunroof/moonroof cost in California

The recent sunroof thread has me itching for a sunroof/moonroof to be added to my car. The listed price was $1100+tx, but that was in Minneapolis.

Does anyone in California have a recommended installer with prices that are close to that figure? Bay Area preferred, but I'm willing to drive a little, though not to the Midwest! Thanks in advance...

Sorry, a list of current and past manufacturers doesn't help me much... Need installer recommendations.

The info I have regarding a California Prius sunroof installer is Coach Automotive in Hayward, cost $1595. If you can't reach them directly (I didn't) then try contacting James Lee, Axiom Auto Group (auto broker), 408-628-9729. He was very helpful and can probably arrange installation for you. Coach Automotive didn't want to help with any information for my Minneapolis install.

YES! Go to prius online and read the posts of Rickey Hirose. He uses Coach Automotive in San Fran Bay Area. They are the only one that actually make the sunroof to follow the original curvature of the roof so not to lose MPG when closed!

I am thinking of buying one and having them install for me!

I actually did have one installed by CA via Rickey Hirose. I'm very happy with it. I now have the same sunroof installed on both my Priuses. There are pictures of what this looks like here:

Yes. That's a great sunroof thread with great pictures too. But note to OP and others: you will first have to register as a member of PriusOnline to be able to see the pictures.

screw it.

if toyota announces a real sunroof for the 2010, trade your car in. the oem sunroof will always be superior to an aftermarket one

American Sunroof in San Diego installed mine. They did one heck of a job. It cost me $1100..took them about 7 hours to do it. They have a place in Los Angeles but at the time I did mine (about a year ago) they did not install the Webasco units due to some kind of contact issue. The unit they were installing was 3" wider and would not fit very well. I don't remember the brand. The San Diego location could do it. Here is the link to their website:
