I did the install from the top (after removing the cowl) and it was a piece of cake. Got a little worried reading all the posts about problems but it was very straighforward. I am excited to try it out and see if it makes a difference. My MFD tanks have been 58.5, 61.7, 63.4... maybe this can push me into the 70's !?!? If anyone in SOCAL needs help I'd be glad to do it for them. Happy gliding...

Great job! You can now do all the installs west of the rockies.

Evidently ~45 minutes isn't long enough for it to do very much... I'll have to try plugging it in a little sooner or get a timer. Sounds like a good number would be 2 hours of warmup? Thanks,

Yea, a timer and 3 hours seems to be the best bang for the buck.

LOL! It looks like in your location you won't be needing to push your engine out of sub-zero temps too often. I'll have to install an EBH just to get my winter driving over 38 mpg

60 minutes this time and I noticed a difference. first 5-min. bar which is usually 25-30mpg was up around 35-40mpg! And I could get into an engine-off glide a couple signals sooner that normal. Good stuff. Tomorrow I need to not leave the hood up while heating because I think some of it is escaping. I'm already getting tired of opening the hood every morning so I may re-route the wire to next to the foglight. I was just worried I would not notice it was plugged-in one day and drive off Do you guys have a fail-safe 'not drive off while plugged-in' method? Thanks.

Is the EBH the same as an EV Kit?
I sure would like to have one installed.
I would be glad to pay you for your time and expertise if you can help out.
1. where should I go to buy an EV kit?
2. How to contact you when I get the kit?
I am in huntington beach, ca . email me at: lyluvly@gmail.com
Thanking you in advance

Never answering my post.
I just figured it out: EBH stands for Engine Block Heater [yes?]
EBH. I do not need.

Check Hobbit's write up of how to do the top down method, I think I remember he removed the hood for better access. Remember, when you put the cowl back on, that all the seals/weatherstripping are re-done correctly, there was a TSB for '04 prius for water leakage at the cowl that required extra weatherstripping.

Having said that, where in Michigan are you? Would you like it done in 30 minutes? The kids want to see their grandparents soon and a side trip won't kill them.

If you're worried that you will forget to unplug your EBH, either drape the cord over the driver's side mirror or make a little sign saying UNPLUG ME & put it on the windshield facing inward when you plug in the car. Those of us having senior moments may wish to do both
