Well,

After a LOOOOOOONG wait, I finally finished my AUTO TILT and AUTO FOLD mod on my baby, "Matilda". I want to thank Bobc for helping me with the auto fold mod. A BIG BIG BIG BIG THANKS, BOB!

I posted some short Quicktime videos on Youtube, including a short intro video...starring, "Matilda".

What was the cost and how long did it take you to make the conversion. It's so sweet!

Here are pics of the connector that I made and adapted to work with the motor. I was planning to go to a Lexus parts department to try and order a cable for it (heck, I figured it would be the same motor that is used by the Lexus cars that have the auto fold feature <_< ). Then, I thought it would probably cost a whole lot just for the cable assembly. Then, Bobc came to the rescue and recommended a "home made" solution. But, instead of buying the connector from a site called Newark.com, I checked out Radio Shack and Voila! These connectors worked like a charm! The connectors had a thick plastic enclosure which I had to remove, since it wouldn't fit in the motor socket. Then, I shrink wrapped it to prevent any accidental short within the socket and THEN, per Bobc, filled the finished area with silicon to prevent moisture corrosion.

The mirror housing, tilt module and auto fold module cost me $660.00 plus tax and shipping. I didn't include the cost of the wiring and extra things, like connectors into account.

I did the entire project over a span of several months since I was waiting for others on this board to email me advice and tricks of the "mod" trade. And, I wasn't rushing it since I'm meticulously careful by nature. So, I can't really give you a tally of hours that I spent on it. Definitely OVER 24 hours i'm sure.

Since I was not involved in figuring out the wiring diagram on this huge project (I scanned the instructions that were in Japanese to Bobc and it was his GENIUS brain that figured everything out), I will ask Bobc for permission first.

The installation instructions for installing the JDM mirrors are available in this forum. Just do a search on it and something should pop up. The reverse tilt module instructions are on here too and both are available for everyone to read.

Vince.

PS. I went to my dealership to order a touch up paint for Matilda and one of the sales people that saw my auto mirrors fold in said, "Whoa! I didn't know the Prius came with those cool mirrors."
