Default Moonroof available in Seattle

Hi: My service dealer, Toyota of Lake City, will install an electric moonroof in a 2004-2005 Prius for 1195.00. I will post pictures as soon as I can get one from the dealer.
The sales guy I have been working with on this tells me that the company they subcontract to do the work, does factory quality installations; your moonroof will look like factory original equipment. I don't know how they managed to get a moonroof into the space between the aerodynamic "humps" on the roof of the Prius which is why I want to see pictures. I can't afford the price right now, but I thought some of you might be interested.
If it can be done here in Seattle, other installers around the country probably know how to do it, and maybe for less money.
Leather seats can be installed for the same price.
Bob

I wouldn't be the first if I were you - could get ugly considering the sensitively engineered nature of our car.

What's the deal with sunroofs/moon roofs? You already have 4 windows in the doors. What do you gain by adding a 5th window in the ceiling?

I've sat in expensive leather chairs. I think cloth is a lot more comfortable. Especially this luxurious cloth we've got in the Prius.

Also, I thought I saw someone mention that a moonroof would mess up the aerodynamics of the car and thus messing up the prime objective of the Prius: MPG.

I don't know what the big deal is with sun/moonroofs, but I do like leather because it's so easy to keep clean. BUT, cloth is much nicer to sit on because you don't burn your butt in the summer, and you don't freeze your butt in the winter. There are trade-offs to both.

well the accord does have seat warmers... but i think that not using leather goes with the Prius' "green attitude" in that the car tries to minimize its impact on the environment.

although, leather is per se a renewable source, the tanning process used to create leather creates several highly toxic by products as parts of the northeast is familiar with due to a large number of toxic waste dumping issues from tanneries that shut down decades ago where areas started experiencing ground water supply problems in the 70's and 80's.

that doesnt take into consideration that cows leave a much greater change on the Earth than growing natural made fibers by their being higher up in the food chain.

Yeah, like if you go skiing. Those slippery ski bibs slide as well on leather as they do on snow :-)
