Default Plug in Prius agent - UK

Out of interest...

Are there any UK Prius owners who would like to make use of a cheaper-than-amberjac conversion company?

Price for a lead acid conversion would be somewhere around £5000.

A friend and I are exploring the possibility of offering conversions in the UK, where the only other option is Amberjac, at about £13k the last time I looked...

Nikki.

Great. I should say at this point that anyone in the UK who is interested is more than welcome to come and have a ride in Velma. We'd be looking at a different kit, but she certainly gives a good starting point

Anyone else? We're looking at using a kit from PluginSupply and becoming one of their approved installers.

Costs are looking to be around the £4,500 mark, installed....
I also checked the Amberjac price - A stonking £17,250!!!! :eeep: No wonder very few PHEVs exist in the UK!

Hi Nikki

Well, here I is, and you'd better add me as a definite maybe, too.

How much of Amberjack's additional cost is due to their use of lithium ion phosphate batteries, do you know?

How (in our case) would using additional NiMH batteries instead of lead-acid affect the price & performance (& weight)? How much extra do all those lead-acid batteries weigh, what's their anticipated life and how much of the total cost is the cost of the extra batteries?

Probably a lot of other questions too - these are just the first ones to spring to mind.

Tony
