Tax credit for 2006 Prius's

It's almost time to do our annual tax return. We always do the 1040 form. Does anyone know for sure how it will work with the short form? Thanks.

Based on the current version of the 2006 Form 1040A, it doesn't look like you'll be able to claim the hybrid tax credit on the short form. Use the Form 1040 (long form) instead.

You can find the forms on the IRS web site: www.irs.gov Below are URLs for the forms, but keep in mind that the forms might change somewhat based on things that Congress does before the end of the year (e.g., possibly reinstating deductibility of sales taxes in lieu of state and local income taxes)
