I'm filing a 1040X because I forgot to put the tax credit in last year. Can anyone tell me where I should enter in the credit? This form only seems to go up to line 32. Also how often can you file for the tax credit? I purchased a Prius in 06 and another in 06. Can they be combined?

Thanks
Tamara

Credits are entered on Line 7 on Form 1040X. Forms 8910 and 6251 also need to be submitted. Three vehicles can be claimed on one 8910.

Form 8910 is not available when I go thru Tax Act 2005 and the other form is too complicated.. This is too much. I"m going to Jackson Hewitt.

Save your money. Download the free program at www.taxact.com for 2006 and enter all your figures. It will complete the 8910 and 6251 automatically.

So I can amend my 2005 taxes using TaxAct 2006? I think thats where my problem is coming from. I have the old Taxact 2005 and I need to fix my 2005 taxes.

2005 did not have a tax credit. In 2005 there was a deduction. From what I heard, a much simpler process. Perhaps the 2005 form 8910 is causing confusion. This form is used if the taxpayer is on a fiscal year (where tax year 2005 ends in 2006) and bought the car in 2006 during that fiscal year.

No, you probably can't use 2006's taxact to amend 2005. I'm sorry that I didn't understand the original question.
