I am considering a similar installation for my Lilliput touchscreen. Could you tell me how you mounted the LCD base to the dash? Did you drill screw holes into the dash for this? How much dash disassembly did you need to do? Thanks!

My Car: Package: Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | Hi to all CANview club members![s] I have posted some updates on my download page:http://www.hybridinterfaces.ca/downloads.html To those of you with the new V4, the code now includes the latest relay configurations as supplied by the guys at CalCars.org as well as another of their suggestions which is a simple table on the EV screen that shows any conditions that currently would prevent EV mode from being entered. In the form of "EV:TSVCBE%" A red "T" means throttle (accelerator) pressed too hard A red "S" means speed too high A red "V" means voltage too low A red "C" means charge current limit too low A red "B" means battery temperature too high A red "E" means engine temperature too low A red "%" means SOC % is too low The exact thresholds these are all compared to can be user-set on the 1st relay setup page. The default values are ones CalCars is currently using. These are not absolute limits, but according to CalCars give a much better idea of when EV is possible. For those with the V3 and the relay option, the 2 new codes posted (CAN and video) match the V4 relay settings. In addition, an AUTOSAVE function has been added as one of the beefs was that you lost any trip information when you powered off your Prius unless you remembered to press SAVE each time. That was asking a lot, especially for us older types whose memory is not quite be what it was, so this version now does a SAVE whenever you switch out of drive into Park or neutral. If you then sit in park for a long period and the ICE kicks in, it won't record that automatically, but its better than before. If you don't like this AUTOSAVE function, you can turn it off on the main setup screen. For those with V1,2 or 3 who don't have relays, there also 2 new codes for you that add this AUTOSAVE function. The V4 doesn't need this because it stores all trip info by battery back-up. Its SAVE function would only be used if you were going to unplug the V4 while it was in for Toyota service. There are now 9 V4's out there being installed. Hopefully a few will post how they did their install, particularly the LCD, for the benefit of others. Merry Xmas! |

I also flashed my V2 for PHEV code and WOW, my screen is getting fuller and very busy. Now, the initial page for EV thresholds values are all alike, in the 100 values for what I remember and my upper right corner reminds me a transistor configuration....CBE.....like I don't see it everyday in the schematics

The top line and right corner are other Calcars suggestions which I've described both on my web-page http://www.hybridinterfaces.ca/setuprelays.html and also in this thread a few posts back. BTW, if anybody is curious, there are now 26 CAN-view owners who have bought the relay options and who have expressed the goal of doing a plug-in conversion at some point in 2007.

My Car: Package: Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | February update: those of you who watch my web-site may notice a new download available for the CAN-view V4. http://www.hybridinterfaces.ca/downloads.html There is no reason for Prius owners to download it as the new code just adds some functionality for the Ford Escape hybrid. It will switch automatically between vehicles. At present it only displays Ford traction battery volts/amps/kw/SOC/battery temp: more should be added soon. Nothing related to the Prius has been removed. I know at least one CAN-view owner has both the Prius and the Escape hybrid. CalCars.org have picked the Escape as the next logical vehicle for a plug-in conversion. You may have read that Ford licensed the HSD technology from Toyota, but you may be interested to hear that the Ford and the Toyota don't share a single CAN message. It appears to have been re-done from the ground up. Maybe that's just to keep the lawyers happy but it makes working with the two vehicles harder. |

My Car: Package: Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | Does anyone know if the CAN-view for 2006 models will ever be available to use the existing MFD display without the need for an external LCD panel? I would sure buy one if available. |

For a longer answer, you can search past postings for reasons why its just uneconomic for me to pursue this in the very small quantities involved. This has been an interesting, if money losing, hobby but with no real market demand, its time for tough decisions and so I have chosen instead to focus on CAN-view's use as a controller for plug-in conversions. Consequently, as of the end of May I will no longer be building CAN-views of any type, except for those seriously considering a plug-in conversion. I think I'll be able to contribute more this way. I will, however, continue to support all existing CAN-views. You might investigate the made-in-Japan device Ken1784 has promoted which at only $250 is a bargain.

I'm sorry to see Norm be forced to give this project up but can understand why. Norm, would you consider releasing the circuit and parts diagrams in case someone wanted to build their own and then use your software to program it?
