The screen I did, mounts with a small bracket that mounted on the flat part of the dash very close to the panel with the power button on it. I look through my pics when I get home. For my own car, I am going to do something very different only I have to wait another paycheck or two. I was lucky to find your post if you PM me you can be sure I will see the question next time I log in.

Hopefully a few will post how they did their install, particularly the LCD, for the benefit of others. Merry Xmas!

I am one of the 9 who has installed the V4. I have tried to post a picture of the installation but PC won't accept it.

Actually the method I chose turned out to be very simple to do and use. I made a wooden plug which just fits in the space behind the plastic door at the bottom of the dash under the MFD. I started with a piece of 2x8 scrap 6" long. Only the first 3" actually grip the space inside the door. The rest I cut down to 4" wide and I attached the Lilliput monitor to the end of that.

The result is a second screen which is just an inch below the MFD. No drilling required. Very handy.

I am working on a modification of this idea. I am building a open faced leucite box to slide into the slot under the stereo, much like the wood plug portion of this mount. This should allow me to use most of the space for storage. I am going to try to build a slot for a metal right angle portion in mount so the upright part can be removed with the screen and stowed under the seat or in the glove box out of site. I hope to have some pictures of a prototype by the weekend. I will keep folks posted. I have discovered the slot is not square but angles in at the sides and up and down. I am still working out the pattern. I am shooting for a stable mount, easily removable, with the new touch screen positioned right below the MFD and the slot still usable with the ability to close the hinged cover when the screen is removed and stowed. Wish me luck.

That looks like a NEAT idea. It opens the possibility of installing the V4 in the box to make an "all in one" set up. Of course that would do away with the storage which you are trying to preserve.

If you come out just a little too small, you could cut up an old cereal box and make shims to make up the difference. I used packing tape for the shims because it holds tight and gives a slik surface for sliding in and out.

I am moving along with the slot mount. I am waiting for the glue holding the plate that will receive the Lillput mounting hard ware to cure. The Plexiglas parts "dry" very quickly as it is actually a solvent fusion of the two pieces. The metal upright has to be epoxied to the plastic that will allow the actual screen to be mounted. I have posted a series of pictures on my web site below. Here is a teaser.

Tony or to the board administrator, can you please allocate all the V4 monitor installation/placement to another thread or sticky? this original thread, CAN-view software update is long enough and should be for software related isues.

Thank you

Well it looks like at least one person wants the V4 mounting discussion moved and I think that it is a good idea it is not really a software issue it is defiantly hardware. (I have been to the hardware store at least 4 times for parts that makes it hardware, right?) This is my latest news. Gluing metal to Plexiglas does not work well and cold weather does not help. So I redid the mount using bolts to hold it in place and here is the result below. Note I did not say final result. The screen is a bit far from the dash using the provided Lillput mount and it cries out to be modified so the screen will lie closer to the dash and a bit lower. Back to the drawing board but I am close and the concept is proven. Maybe I should attach the upright on the lower part, but that would obstruct the access to the slot and I would like to avoid that. PS Moderators you know who you are? You can move my stuff here from CAN View Software if you like.
