Is this car pre-wired for the radio? Does the dash need to be opened? Where does the actually XM radio go? Sorry in advance if I am not using this board correctly. This is my first posting. Thanks! |

Basically you open one part of the dash and plug into the back of the radio. The XM part is anywhere inside, but in this case it's in the trunk area. |

My Car: Package: Nominated 1 Time in 1 Post TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | Hi, I just purchased the xm radio from the dealership when I bought my 07 about 3 weeks ago. They installed it and I ended up taking it out not liking the line up of xm and switched back to Sirius. However, they mount the unit under the rear passenger side seat. You pull the seat bottom cushion out and there is a plate that unscrews and they mount the unit to the underside of the plate with brackets. The dealer gave me the full instructions of how to mount the unit since I asked to move the antenna from the window to the roof. Its really quite simple to place it at that location with the right tools, brackets from toyota. btw (still have my xm unit listed 4sale on here if your interested) Good luck

How did the radio work with the antenna on the corner right-front dash? Did it look OK? How well did the reception work? When you moved the antenna to the roof, did the antenna and antenna ground plate come off the dash OK?

Hi, the Radio worked so-so on the dash, it still had a decent amount of fuzziness-static at some points due to the location. It didn't look to bad, however I didn't have the plate to mount it on, so I just had it stuck there with a little bit of sticky tape. The dealer provided me with a new antenna and I placed that on the roof, it improved the signal a great deal in my opinion and do not lose the signal near as much. I may be partial since my 4runner has an antenna on the roof, so I was comparing my signal to that vehicle. When the dealership gave me a new antenna, the claimed it was an external one, however it looked identical to the previous one! And it seems to be fine on the roof with just the magnetic aspect and no ground plate. If you want any pictures of the radio in the car under the seat or of the roof with antenna let me know, i have some on my digital camera. Good luck.

here is the link for how I have run my current antenna and past ones. I don't have the other photos on this pc but will post em online once I get back home. http://priuschat.com/Installing-satellite-...lly-t28807.html Any more questions feel free to hit me up again. ps. I think someone on the thread above suggested routing it through the rear tail light or something.... I have never tried it, in my opinion the way I did it was the easiest way...but to each their own :-)
