If I had an EV mod done , would you get regen if you take your foot of the throttle pedal when going down a hill? or even brake regen? also How many green bars should a fully charged traction pack show, I have seen different sites some say 8 some say 7 I know there must be a set number there??? I have a brand spankin new 1 mile well now 25 mile 07 prius HE package dont need the nav. JBL etc... but I have built an electric vw fox car can be seen at this link or web address..http://www.austinev.org/evalbum/896 and with a diode and rehostat installed I can have regen on my fully electric vehicle. Also why is the ev mode limited to 1.5 miles? on the prius ev mod? I have used it more without the kit ( no kit yet) seems like the lighter the touch on throttle the better. it just seems as a waist of more money for a mile and a half. thanks and sorry for the long post will shorten next time.. |

I just assumed that the regen would still work the same in EV mode, but I do not know. I will be watching for an answer to that question also. I went to your EV site, that is some interesting stuff. |

Use it sparingly in situations where running the ICE makes no sense. Moving the park a short distance in a parking lot, from the garage to the street and situations like that. Excessive use will actually hurt your mileage because you'll more than likely have to burn a lot of gas to recharge it. Don't get me wrong, the EV mod is great, it's cool, and it can save you a wee amount of gas here and there, but you have to use it judiciously or you'll actually waste more gas than you're saving.

The stock battery has about 1kWh of total energy of which you can use about half, the 8 bars on the dash represent a real SOC range of 40% to 80%, it's worth about 1 to 3 miles depending on your driving. Generally you can't go past 1 mile unless you start fully charged, use the EV-mode to reach the lower limit of 45% SOC (where EV-Mode exits) and drive very easy on an ideal "course". My Converted Prius does about 10 miles or so in EV-Mode with more or less "normal" driving over "regular" terrain below 34mph. The EV-Mode button is pretty simple, and I would recommend that you install the CAN-View if you're interested in getting more technical feedback from your Prius. whether or not you use the CAN-View for a PHEV conversion as I and others have it's simply a great feedback and diagnostics interface... http://www.eaa-phev.org/wiki/CAN-View Nice VW conversion you have there... I think I will do the coastal ev mod. and the reverse beeb mod can't stand it. also would like to say I have learned a lot on this site in a very short time.. thanks again. oh about the soc meter,, 8 bars went driving last night put on 110 miles only gets 7 bars of green how or when does it ever go to 8 bars? |
