The outside temp sensor on my 2006 Prius reads 2-3 degrees higher than true outside temp on my mileage display screen.Sounds like a small thing but it bugs me and in the NE US it's a good tool in the winter.
Can it be adjusted? replaced
Where is the lttle bugger located?
Thank you,
John

In the front grill, lower part - I think.

I would try claiming it under warranty.

It requires the service dept. scan tool to adjust. If you're still within your 12mo/12k mile "adjustment period" they should do it for free. If you're outside that, cute, blond and wear short skirts you might still be able to get it free....ok, maybe even if you're fat and ugly but ask nicely. Otherwise they could insist on charging you for the service.

I'm still stuck on the "cute, blond and wear short skirts" part.

I am confused. I'll agree that the temp sensor is located in the lower right grill and that it reports through the MFD. Where are you getting the 2nd reading from and how do you know the second device is accurate?

With my grills mostly blocked the temp reported on the MFD is within a degree or two of what is reported on the radio and time/temp signs.

Is that right? Its adjustable in an '06? Can it be done through the diagnostic menus or do you really have to go back to toyota dealer to do it?

Let me know... I will have to check the accuracy of mine and then tweak it as needed... based on what you tell me.
