My Car: 2004 Prius Package: #9 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | My Dad reported that his Prius has started beeping once every 5 minutes. There is no indication on the dashboard or the MFD. My guess was that this is the warning the Prius makes if the battery in your keyfob is low. I suggested that he try the other fob, and the car did the same thing. It's possible that both fobs have nearly dead batteries, but it seems unlikely. Anyone else experience this phenomenon? He's planning on asking the dealership to look at it, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't something simple. I also told him how to open the fob so that he can try replacing the battery.

However, I am still curious what happens when the fob battery is low. There is supposed to be some indication because one of the customizable options is to turn that warning off.

Ha, I parked up in the closest spot to the door of Michael's (the craft store) the other night, in my new Prius. When I touched the door to lock it, it began beeping strangely, I thought. Took my son and I a minute to figure out that it was the bar code reader in the store (door was open.)
