Currently there is a Prius Liftback,
a Plug in Prius
a Prius v (Alpha in Japan, Prius+ in Europe)
and a Prius c. (Aqua in Japan)

All have different mileage. In addition the were Gen 1 and Gen 2 Priuses before this generation. And a Gen0 in Japan.

Now lets add goverment standards, Japan has two Mileage Tests, the USA has city, highway and combined EPA mileage, and the Europeans use a separate mileage standard.

And also the design of the car will also affect the fuel economy, like the Prius v in the US is 44/40 because the Prius v is 'taller' and heavier than the standard Prius, which means needs more power to accelerate due to drag from air resistance and overcoming inertia. The Prius Plugin has a higher fuel economy as it also uses being recharged by being plugged in as well as the normal engine doing the recharging of the battery as well as a different kind of battery pack (Lithium Ion over the standard Nickel Metal Hydride battery) so there is a bit more staying power from the battery.

A lot of it will depend, also, on driving conditions, as it is with all cars.

Also, the Prius V has larger heavier tires and wheels.

I've had the car 3 days now. When I bought it Thursday night it had about 5 miles on it. On the way back home I was stuck in rush hour traffic from Carson ( 110+ miles and practicing all the tips from this forum) I did not push the EV/ECO/PWR buttons on the car.

I put gas in for the first time with 338 miles on the odometer and was a little under half a tank. 6.2 gallons filled the tank back up to full. So, if I'm calculating correctly 333/6.2 = I've achieved an average of 53 miles for city and highway.(50% highway and 50% city)

I've figured out where the trip computer is and have reset it. I dont like to let my cars go under 1/4 tank (I got that OCD habit from my Dad - It came in handy when the power went out in Southern CA in Nov last year LOL) I'm really happy with the car and hope to see the same if not better results as the car breaks in. Thanks for all the tips!!

I'm also getting an average of 47-48 on my 2008 prius.
There is no doubt Toyota is a brand by itself, but Toyota are the finest cars in the world.Toyota has the largest share of their products in markets like the US,UAE, Saudi Arabia,Australia etc. There's hardly any complaint in their products. And most customers are a satisfied a lot.

I have been getting my best mileage from chevron gas <48.2>, second was mobile <47.5>. I also found that 87 oct works best. I saw a drop when I went to 89 oct of 3 mpg. Just at 4k miles in just 6 weeks.
