Default Acronym Glossary?

I'm having a little trouble (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) making sense of the alphabet soup sometimes.

Danny - In addition to the other articles you're planning for the site, could you post something that will list all the common abbreviations used when talking about the Prius?

ICE, DIN, HID, CAN ...

Hey, and we might want to grab one of those great lists off the internet that list all those other little acronyms like IMHO, FWIW, etc. I can pull one of those if you like.

That's a very good idea, Cybele. I know of some places to grab the normal ones from (FWIW, IMHO, LOL, etc) but would love any help I can get to put together a page on the Prius-specific Acronyms. Just PM or email me with your contributions, as I doubt I would be able to remember all of them on my own!

Cybele, ICE referres to the internal combustion engine in our cars. Since we have a multiple source powertrain under our hoods, it often gets used to refer to the gasser side of our cars.

DIN, is presumably referring to height of a radio slot.

HID stands for High Intensity Dischage headlights.

Finally, CAN, I believe is referring to Canadian models.

CAN can also be referring to Car Area Network

Thanks ... I actually know what those are (I chose them because they were also words). But I do find myself having to figure them out on occasion and I know I can't be alone.

I miss the days of my old 1971 Volvo - I'd pop the hood and I could identify everything under the hood - and change the distributor cap myself.

I'll make a list of the on ones that I see on a regular basis.

It took me a long time to learn those others like FWIW and IMHO and I don't even consider myself terribly old ... just stuck using English.
