Discounted Toyota Prius Extended Warranty /Service Contracts

Rufaro, I copied that list directly from the Toyota Financial website here - Premium Maintenance plan info Click on the 19 point inspection link for the additional items.
Generally, I would take any dealer generated maintenance schedule with a grain of salt as they may or may not coincide with the factory recomendations. You should go by the Scheduled Maintenance Guide that came with your car if there is any doubt about what should be done.

Normally I have done maintenance on all the cars/trucks I own as far as oil and filter changes, and the inspections. If there is a question whether I can do it as well or not I would have taken it in for inspection. How would that effect the warranty coverage. I take great care in minding my oil and filter changes and maintenence on our cars. I guess keeping the reciepts for oil & parts used is normanl operation for that but is there any way that would disavow the extended warranty coverages you offer?

You can certainly do the maintenance yourself if you like. Like you mentioned, just keep a log with the date and mileage that you did it, and save the receipts for any parts and oil used. The only time this would come up on a warranty claim is if the failure looked like it was due to neglect or lack of maintenance. In that case, you want to have it well documented that you did all the required maintenance.

Interesting that the paper they handed out specifies 2004 and later Prius--did the service reqs change? The OTHER question still remains--how are the coupons/stuff in the prepaid pkg worded?

Just got a 2006 Prius. An extended Warranty and Prepaid Maintanance sound very good to me. The plans that Troy sells are cheaper than the one offerd by my dealer in North Palm Beach. I called 4 dealers in the Miami, Florida area and one service Manager told me that they don't accept the Toyota Financial Warranty and maintanance plan. My question is. Has anbody used the Toyota Financial Warranty in the Miami area? Please let me know. Ray

Batteries are not covered in the extended warranty; see here. You already get the standard added warranty on the hybrid components, which is almost as good.

I just bought a 2006 Prius this week. I found out about this site and gladly signed up. Certainly, the first thing that caught my eye is the extended warranty forum.

First, a question.

I read this on a website.

"The State of California has passed legislation that prohibits quoting or selling extended service contracts (extended warranties) to California residents by anyone other than the selling automobile dealer. In order to comply with this legislation of your state, we are unable to provide price quotes or offer to sell extended service contracts to California residents."

It sounds very official. Could anyone verify this?

It seems that this legislation prohibits sales of any extended warranty to any car/model from anyone else other than the original selling dealer. I certainly have doubts about this.

Appreciate any enlightment.

Call me skeptical (sceptical? rufaro?), but I somehow get the feeling that this may be related to THAT particular organization and not a state/federal/whatever law...that this organization may not WANT to offer such things in CA, where we have some peculiar ideas about lotsa stuff, including what we will get when we pay money for it...

It is false. My hunch is that this outfit is not licensed to operate in California.
