Why would you have it lock the doors at a certain speed than rather when the car powers up?


It is a good idea but feel $70 is to expensive to just lock the doors automatically, when I can press a button for free. If it were say $20 I might have taken the plunge.

Don't the doors just open if you pull on the inside handle? Any child with the strength and agility to get in the Prius and start it up should be able to open the door from the inside.

I like the idea of locking when I power up rather than getting up to a certain speed. Frequently I'm not up to 15mph (or whatever) for some time after I get in the car, i.e. leaving a parking lot, etc. I think this is a better approach.

My wife and I have had cars with auto door locks for a long time, so it's not so easy to get back in the habit of manually locking the doors.

That said, $70 seems a tad high. I'm still not sure on this one.

well i want both
when you drive and open the doors and a passenger gets out then you drive away again and the doors lock.. you dont power up and down the prius
so i want it to lock on power and if not locked also lock at a speed limit

Ok let me get this straight I understand that this device will ONLY lock when the power button is pressed and no other time is that right?

Here is how it works. Get in the car, foot on the brake, push power button, doors lock. Car won't automatically lock again until powered up from the "off" position with foot on brake pedal.
