If something doesn't suit your needs I guess that makes it dumb?
So is a dialysis machine dumb or do you have renal failure? Is a pace maker dumb or is your heart weak?

What about the 90% of people who do 90% of their driving within a range of 50 miles of home, I guess for them a car with 200 miles range isn't all that dumb especially in a 2 car household like yours where the electric car can be enjoyed all week commuting and the long journeys can be taken in the family truckster or landyacht.
I have a feeling anyone who buys a $100,000 car isn't exactly scratching for a dollar so isn't likely to have just 1 car.

Exactly the point: Kandi seems to think a car is "dumb" if it does not meet his extreme driving requirements.

While it would be easy to knock someone for driving so damned much and buring fuel (environmental, economic, and health reasons) I feel it is wiser to just be happy that Coi is even looking into higher efficiency vehicles instead of the typical high-horsepower gas guzzlers that is in such high demand with people who live a lavish or high-profile lifestyle.

I spoke with one of Tesla's engineers recently. Seems that there is a lot of co-development with Lotus (since its on the elise platform).
Also, the production transmission will be a single speed.

They are also working on a 4 door version, more of a passenger car, but no images to be revealed yet.

its dumb for me, not for everyone else, another mans trash is another mans gold, don't take it personal

I recently purchased a prius as well

I have a 7 car household $100k is not much money for me

Funny thing is I had my GF and step dad convinced on the Tesla, the range is what killed it for us, because of our lifestyles

We spoke to tesla people in person and tried to get as much info as we need

Once again this is a public forum don't take anything personal, CHILL OUT

Coi,

Some take it personal because extravagent lifestyles generally mean a degradation of the environment both local and global. IE high consumption leads to more pollution and resource extraction which hurts everyone in the long run both in terms of health and economics.

I'm not ragging on you but I would like you to understand why some people get more upset than others when we talk about how many cars you own, how many miles you drive etc. Simply put, those consumptive decisions affect everyone, not just you.

Have you seen The Story of Stuff yet? It's pretty good.

It's utilized by people and subject to typical human conditions such as opinions, arguements and maybe even sex. If you don't like it the "logout" button is in the upper right corner. Now show me some pics!

Quit trolling. Seriously.

If $100k is not that much money for you and you have a 7 car household, why are you worrying about 240 mile range when you can simply pick one of the other 7 cars in your fleet of vehicles when you need to drive further than that?

Buy the Tesla and use it for all your less than 200 mile trips.

Use your Exige, Escalade, Prius or other 4 cars when you need to go further.

I am not knocking him for driving a lot. That's his right. I'm knocking him for announcing that it is "dumb" to market an EV that "only" gets 240 miles on a charge, when the present state of battery technology makes it inordinately difficult to get more battery than that into a car. It is not dumb at all. It merely does not meet the needs of someone who drives such extreme distances as he does.

Though with the announcement that he heads a 7-car household, it seems unreasonable to insist that every one of his 7 cars (or 8 if he added the Tesla without selling one of the others) be capable of 300 miles. The Tesla could be his short-range runabout, as the Xebra is my short-range runabout. When I have to go more than 35 miles I take the Prius. When he has to go more than 240 miles he could take his Prius.

But of course it is his right to say he won't buy an EV with less than 300 miles range. It just is silly to announce categorically that it's "dumb" for Tesla to market the Roadster with 245 miles average range.
