Summary:
ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, DUE TO IMPROPER ASSEMBLY OF THE AIR BAG INFLATOR, WHICH IS USED IN THE SIDE AIR BAG, THE CURTAIN SHIELD AIR BAG, AND THE KNEE AIR BAG ASSEMBLY, SOME INFLATORS WERE PRODUCED WITH AN INSUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF THE HEATING AGENTS NECESSARY FOR PROPER AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. IN THIS CONDITION, THE EXPANSION FORCE OF THE GAS MAY BE INSUFFICIENT TO PROPERLY INFLATE THE AIR BAG WHEN THE SRS SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED DURING A CRASH.
Consequence:
THIS MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO THE OCCUPANT IN THE INVOLVED SEATING POSITION IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE SPECIFIC SRS AIR BAG. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING APRIL 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-888-270-9371, SCION AT 1-866-548-1851, OR LEXUS AT 1-800-255-3987.

Does anyone know what VINs or what factories were involved ? Or when owners will be notified?

Strange that only 133 vehicles would be affected during over 2 years of production. How can they ID them?

I'm guessing that the same recall affects things like Scions with knee airbags. Probably all assembled in the same plant.

I'm more curious about the number of affected. Did I read that right: 133? Is that total?

46 of them are prii- the total number is pretty small, sounds about right.

My sister had an 05 prius build model 4, her air bags did not when she hit another car at 45 mph.( the other car was cut off by someone making an illegal turn) Is there a specific speed you have to be going for the air bags to be deployed. She suffered alot of brusing/whiplash. If anyone can shed some light on this we wqould be interested. Toyota has shown no intrest in this situation. Are they hiding something? quiteride

I'm far from an expert on this, but I beleive it has more to do with the ammount of force, angle of impact etc, than a simple speed at impact. But I could be wrong. Might want to start your own thread... something like "Airbag Deplyment Conditions?"
