Default Rally runs

Is anyone interested in Rally running? I think it would be interesting to see what our true milage would be if run under certain conditions. It seems that most car clubs do these, and since we have the advantage of sipping gas, it might be fun.

Could be the slowest rally ever. Everyone wanting someone else to be up front to trip the signals so they can get MAX MPGs! :-)

Maybe DaveInOly and Starbug (lend her a Prius) would be interested. They could see what it is like to 'race' * on the inside, looking out. :-)

* RC reference

Boy I have not been in a Rally in years. It would be fun. When I was in college we would do this one with obscure clues like go 4.5 miles then turn right at the cow. You would find a billboard with a cow, or a pasture full of them, or a mail box with a cow on the top or some such. We would also do allusions to literature that would require interpretation and riddles as clues. You could sped all day back tracking and figuring that stuff out!

When I did rallies in my old VW they were a kick. The trip is not to go to slow or to fast. And sometimes you really need a navagator, or in a few cases a "nag"avator. Just thought it might be something to do, instead of just looking at each other's cars, to really show what they can really do.

Yep in the rallies I have done doing the speed limit was key. You had to be on time at the check stations. Not early, not late. Prius owners dream. No cruse control in those days but then you have to average the speed limit from light or stop sign to light. That implies a bit of speeding to make up the difference. A good Navigator is key. Of course there are are those areas where the speed limit is not clear, though I don't know how well the Prius would do on "unimproved roads", not much ground clearance.

I've never organized one, but know that other car clubs have done them. So if anyone knows of other clubs ie: corvette, model T's and others. Maybe they know about how to organize it. The rallies I have seen were held in the spring/summer so that gives us time to organize something. I'll keep my eyes out if others will as well.

OH! OH! OH! I'm game!!! I'm gaaammmmeee!!! :clap: :multi: :clap: :multi: :clap: :multi: :clap: :multi: Gaaaahhhh!!! I need a Prius! Schedule the rally for a Sunday after 5pm when I get off work, and I'll be all over it. If all else fails, I'll be somebody's navigator, as I'm pretty good at that. *grumbles about injustice of not having a Prius*

(BTW, loved the RC reference, Bruce!)
