Just receivied from their e-mail marketing campaign:

"Not long ago, luxury was all but unattainable. 'The best you could get' was not the best you could get. At Lexus we're aware of such matters, so we developed the CT 200h — a well-built, fully luxurious driving machine capable of getting you from A to Being more than satisfied, without sacrificing the Lexus subtleties. Now you can get into the first full hybrid luxury compact for $29,120*. Be among the first to test a class-leading vehicle, available March 2011, in the 7 tantalizing exterior colors shown here. The 8th color, green, represents the money you'll be saving while riding in style.

*MSRP does not include delivery, processing and handling fee of $875. Excludes taxes, title, license and optional equipment. Dealer price may vary."

    and from their website:

"We’ll skip the drumroll and get right to it. Beginning March 2011, you can get into the first full hybrid luxury compact for $29,120*."

Awesome, they are not bundling packages like Prius.

If this car had a plug, I would put down a deposit today. (I've already seen it in person at the autoshow). Without a plug, I will still consider it, but I think I will end up waiting for the plug-in Prius.

This is an Awesome car though! :)

My kid would love it if we got one in yellow. He's five y/o now and loved yellow since two or three months old.

I'm seriously interested, too, even though it would be seriously stupid to sell my 2010 Prius so soon. My wife wants her next car to be electric (or a hover car :)). Did you get to sit in it? I've noticed in the other threads/reviews comments that it sits real low. That would be a slight concern with my sometimes kinky back. I'm betting the mileage would be no worse than I'm getting with my V and all my short trip driving.

CT200h will sell like hot cake in Canada then. Prius starts at $27,800.

Virtually certain they are bundling audio upgrade with sunroof ... which kinda sucks ... for tall people.

Very different car the CT ... got the low slung, sporty upscale interior. Driving position is sweet although cozy for the big dogs.

Toyo could help Prius by centering that steering wheel about the seat and little more scope. Edmunds repeatedly mentioning the lack of scope. I pretty much agree - I sit very upright in Prius'.

Yes, it has low-H point seating and COG. Bit more of an ingress/egress challenge. Much less foot room in back seats. Hey, it's like 6" shorter overall. You'd get less FE with a CT, but you may not mind. :D

Dynamic cruise is a lot cheaper than what the germans are charging... but 1200 bucks for LED headlights ?!

edit: nevermind - they make you buy nav and premium audio to get the DCC

"Leather package" as in there's a non-leather version? Lexus just took a trip back to 90s.

By the way, looking at the specs/performance this is nothing more than a Prius V with beefier suspension. It's the same freakin' engine! Here it won't matter if it's Lexus-tuned.

I guarantee a properly modified Gen III can out-perform the CT200h at a cheaper cost and with better mileage.

It is more than suspension. LHD (Lexus Hybrid Drive) is tuned differently than HSD. ICE Rpms are held higher for maximum power response. Sports mode changes steering ratio, dash color to red, brakes becomes more sensitive, gas engine becomes more active -- a completely different mood.

It will have the first factory equipped shock absorbers to absorb vibrations. The chasis is so stiff that they were necessary to provide "Lexus experience".

WOW, how come noone's bitched about the $2500 nav that requires another $1100 for the premium stereo!?

    Leather memory seats absolutely.

    PCS and DCC a must.

Basicly I like what I see but there is one major problem I see. Since the gas tank is only 9.9 gallons that means a max range of about 400 miles and since few of us really drain our tank it is more like 300 miles. For any commuter or trip that just does not seem enough. For a trip that you might be traveling 70 plus mph you might be filling up every 250 miles or so.
