2010 Prius III - We removed the 3 rear headrests for better rear visability & stored them in the garage in plastic bags. No one has sat on the rear seats since we got the car & have had it for about 15 mos. now. But it isn't very attractive with all the holes showing.
Notes: Blizzard Pearl White. 44+change all around MPG. 52.1 MPG on a 250 mile trip. Note permanent cooler in back- used for grocery shopping, otherwise sun bakes anything back there.
    Happy at the gas pump!

Another option for some other reader that might not want to remove them, just extend them up and they fold forward and down out of the way You can see better and they're still there if you have a 3rd and/or 4th person ride with you.

Yep I second that.^^^^ I keep my two outboard headrests folded down most of the time.

laplante236 why not keep your headrests stowed in the under floor storage compartment?

Don't want any more rattles & it seems we don't really need them, and I really have a visibility problem - the center post is the worst, especially for passing.
Booya! Do I wish I was where you are now! Never been there, to old to fly! Spent 3 years in Puerto Rico though - ahhh! beaches every day! (1955-57. Cheers!

I keep the rear seats folded down, no one ever sits there, major rear visibilty improvement.

I have a cargo net that I attached to the left and right head rest poles and the forward cargo net rings. The net lays flat across the seat backs. The only time I have to open the hatch is for Home Depot or Costco.

After you fold the head restraints forward, you might as well fold the seats forward, too. And take advantage of all the the carrying space.

I do kinda wish there were three or four more inches or so of length back there, so I could kick out a sleeping bag on an ensolite pad without having my ankles hang out in space.

I pulled the outer 2 the first week we had it. We only ever carry kids in the backseat and it's useless for them. Oddly, the lower middle headrest doesn't obstruct my view at all so I left it in.

Put mine under the floor of the back as well, in case I ever have anyone in back for more than 8 blocks or so. Seems to me to improve visibility more than the fold-down does.
    Haven't noticed them rattling.
