Well one explanation he is from Pittsburgh (coal region). My old backyard actually. The "Cap and Trade" approach did have big government implications, versus "Carbon Tax" approach which is just paperwork.

 

IMHO if he was against the sham cap and tax proposal he would be on solid ground. Even Hanson, one of the biggest proponents of ghg reduction, was against it because it was written so badly that it would not really reduce ghg, only transfer money between winners and losers, and many of those losers would be in Pennsylvania. Don't get me wrong a carbon tax could also be written as badly.

The problem with Santorum is he is an idiot on this and many other issues. The bush administration even reported gw is happening and human ghg contribute to it, as well as issuing the scientific reports that backed it up. Its not a democrat republican, or a coal state non coal state issue, its more basic scientific understanding. Unfortuanately being and idiot seems to help some people to get elected.

 

Like any politicans do get it ? Their only reason for existence is self serving 100% and they still get re elected. That sure says alot about us the voters. Enough politics back to prius issues and chat!!

I agree that people will try to make money in their pockets no matter what, and that has tainted somewhat the issue. I remember as a Canadian boy, that we had a permanent icecap. That we didn't have Polar bears roaming so far down south as to mate with Grizzly bears.

I hope this satellite will wake up people that science does work, that humans can induce through pollution climate change - not just air pollution.

It's always about the money - who's going to pay for this & that. Stop the war and put all US airflight with Israel-type security. Put up dedicated high speed trains instead of 8 lane highways. Decentralize electric manufacturing to save on power distribution loss.

The US has 11 operational aircraft carriers - more than all the other nations combined !!!

 

AG I want to assure you that my politics are in-line with yours. I decided months ago I am wrting you in the next ballot.
