Losing My Religion

Another fan here.

I haven't heard this one in awhile.

 

Hilarious.

 

That's an expression in the South for someone losing their temper - cursing.

 

Wouldn't any good religion include R.E.M.?

 

I'm not a rock fan, and I'd never heard of R.E.M. (I presume that's the name of the band.) But I like the song.

 

I don't much care for that one. But like I said, I'm not a fan of rock music. FWIW, I completely disagree with the lyrics of my favorite music genre (sacred music of the Baroque and earlier). Fortunately, it's mostly in Latin, so I can more or less ignore the words.

 

The OP could have titled this thread "Loosing My Religion" and it would have been similar to many others on this forum.

LOL, they are sort of similar. Both bands are of foreign origins, Los Angeles and Stockhom.

I love R.E.M.

 

I think we've seen enough of people loosing their religion on others. As in 'letting it loose' or 'who let the dogs out?', for the grammatically challenged among us.

 

As far as 'rock' music goes, REM is fairly subdued and introspective. You should try listening to more - you might like it. Stay away from Metallica. And ABBA.

 

Who? I have no idea who they are. I know who Jimmy Hendrix is (don't like his music) and the Beatles (they did some very nice songs).

I like Mac Rebennack (aka Dr. John, the night-tripper), but that's not rock in my book. More sort of R&B Bayou style. I like 1930's jazz, and boogie woogie. A lot of rock just sounds like banging on pots and pans. It's got to have a tune to be music, and polyphony is better yet. Syncopation is also good. I like the traditional musics of most cultures. Oh, and Motown was good. Not great, but nice.

Correction: Spain has some nice places (Seville in summer, Barcelona, the coast of Galicia) but the best place I've ever seen is southeastern British Columbia, especially the Selkirk mountains. The reason I chose Spokane to live in is because it's driving distance from B.C. They were not joking when they put "Beautiful British Columbia" on their license plates.

 

Daniel, I think our romance is over.

I don't think I could live without a wide range of music, including Rock.

We can still be friends, though. It isn't you, it's... um, you.

 

Poor Daniel, he's probably heard this more than a few times in his life.
