Just got a 2011 Prius III yesterday and I am working on setting up bluetooth with my phone I need some help. I have the JBL audio system without navigation.

I have a HTC Droid Incredible 2. The phone paired with the car and I am easily able to make phone calls. However, during the phone setup process, when paired the phone, the Prius never asked me if I wanted to use the internal audio player on the phone (my 2010 Tundra asked me that question...Tundra is non-JBL, non-nav).

When I go into the bluetooth settings on my phone, under "bluetooth devices" it shows my Tundra and my Prius. Next to the Tundra, an icon of headphones is shown and when I long-click on it and select options, under "profiles" it shows "phone" and "media". For the Prius, the icon is headphones with a microphone and when I go into the options, the only thing shown under "profiles" is "phone".

So what do I need to do differently to get my phone to play media via bluetooth in my Prius? Does the non-navigation head unit support bluetooth audio?

    Thanks for your help!

BT audio streaming is only available with nav.

I bought the same car a month ago and also have a HTC phone. Stream is right that our Prius III does not have bluetooth audio. Our car does have an audio jac that works well with the phone. Just plug in the phone to the audio jac and set the stereo to aux. The sound is amazing in this car.

It's a shame that music streaming isn't available without the Navigation system. Hopefully head unit upgrades will allow it to stream over BT.

I purchase a car dock for my Droid 3 and the USB cable that runs from the dock to the charger also has a Audio Output dongle. This involves running an audio cable from the outlet into the center console. Not a perfect solution but good until I can find out some other way to get audio from my phone to the car system.

The new Display Audio with Entune will allow bluetooth audio streaming.

You really love 'selling' this new Entune system! :p

If I buy a head unit that supports Bluetooth (but requires an adapter), is there a possibility it can use the Bluetooth that is already in the Prius?

lol. Didn't notice it until you mentioned it (and then I realised it was you who wrote that post haha).

Well it's nice to see Toyota finally catching up (I mean the 2010 Prius was launched without a USB/iPod connector! In one of the most technologically advanced car, no less!

While the resolution of Display Audio 3 or 4 is lower than what we expect (people already complain about the resolution of the current navigation screen), it's nice that a touchscreen is standard on most new Toyota models. This allows Toyota to offer basic navigation system (to compete with PNDs) and a 6.1" screen is much nicer than a 3-line LCD screen. Oh wait, there I go selling it again.. oops!!

Hmm, good question. I'm not sure. I would think that the feature is based on the headunit (so if the head unit is able to stream audio via bluetooth then you should be able to do it if you install that unit in your Prius). Maybe one of the more experienced audio users can tell you.

I was bummed out too when I found out after purchasing my car. However I did find a solution and that information can be found in this posting: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...hardwiring-power-aux-audio-in-2011-prius.html

Our Prius II came with the Blu Logic from the factory. I had been hoping to get a Prius III but could not find one locally in the right color so I settled for the II with Blu Logic. The blu logic does stream music via bluetooth with was a nice and welcome surprise.
