Perhaps we could eat vegans. That would do an even better job of limiting AGW.

Last night we were discussing a similar but even more environmentally correct way to reduce impact - zombification.

Zombies eat brains which eliminates creatures that cause polution and there are billions of brains to feed on. Zombies don't drive or need to use heat or ac.:der:

This was after a friend told me her vegan ex-bf kept trying to get her to eat tofu chicken.

Nothing against vegans, but that is a life style choice.

And in the case of zombies, it's not even a choice.

Like many other choices, it is important to realize this isn't an 'all or nothing' issue.
For example, beef is a lot more energy intensive than chicken or turkey. Typically cattle is fed corn. And it takes a lot of corn to feed cattle in their life. Corn itself is very energy intensive between the fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation, etc.
So while you may not like the idea of going 'all-in' vegan, eating steak/hamburger less often will help.

If you are eating in a restaurant, most restaurants serve large, often ridiculously large steaks. My wife and I have started splitting a steak dinner and getting an extra salad to go with it.

Eating at home we have we don't usually have steak but when we do we have smaller portions of steak. A small very good steak eaten slowly can be more satisfying than a twice as large average steak.

grass fed and free range animals are probably much better than the grain fed meats environment-wise.

just don't tell PETA or they'll get angry.

I'm always a bit surprised that meat-eaters tend to be skeptical of this finding. The findings are obvious, and is only disputed by people interested in keeping their diet status-quo.

I'm a meat eater, but I pay attention to the facts. All available evidence says that diet matters. US agriculture accounts for maybe 7% of US GHG emissions. Any reasonably calculation shows that meat, particularly beef, is energy intensive. Here's my favorite introduction to the topic:

That's why it's important not to waste the good bits of animals like internal organs and blood.

The old Veggie argument again. Sure there's probably some merit to it too. Wouldn't it be better if there weren't as many humans? Perhaps these veggies or those with concern for the planet should have a vow of chastity?

Hey practice what you preach and all eh? Less humans = less damage to the earth. And less pita's the better for us all!

While I have profound respect for Vegans (real ones....not the goofy wanna-be's) GOD pretty much designed the human animal to be omnivorous.
    Beef is tasty!

OK....so while I dig the whole free range thing, and I think food items like whale bacon and foie gras are coloring outside the lines a little, I'm thinking that forced vegetarianism isn't really going to work out all that well.

Remember, you Vegans aren't living longer without meat.

    It just seems longer.

Quite right. But you can have two veggie humans for every meat human.

Aren't you the grumpyCabbie who calls himself an eco-cabbie too ? Is this just greenwashing from you, or garden variety hypocrisy ?
