    Hi Danny,
I am on the Plug in waiting list and was wondering in your opinion has the plug in (including the new lithuim battery) been out long enough to be reliable? I have driven the gen 3 and was wondering are there any differences in driving the plug in versus the standard version (how far were you actually able to drive on battery power alone?). I saw some new colors Sea glass pearl and clearwater blue metallic. Can I look at these colors anywhere?
Thank you Danny for all the excellent research and help that I have received over the Years - Seth - Priuslovers

The issue is, for those of us already with high MPG priu, at the price for the loaded model, probably worth getting a Leaf of Ford Focus EV, with a much larger tax credit ($7500), and much more EV range. just too little actual EV for too high a price.

From the press release: "The Prius Plug-in reduced vehicle weight in other areas as well. In place of a spare tire, the Prius Plug-in carries a tire-sealing kit and inflator."

Danny, I read through that and it is really great but it does not say that this is the North American version of the Prius PHV. Is it?

this is what i thought was going to happen. i'm going for the model s, as $$ is not my concern. i would rather spend an additional 12k after tax incentives, for a far superior technology/design.

Well it doesn't say it in black and white anywhere that I can see but there are clues like all figures are in "murican" and "Emissions: Coverages vary under Federal and California regulations. Refer to applicable Warranty
    and Maintenance Guide for details."

Can anyone explain to me why the Advanced is $39,525? The differences seem to be LED headlights, HDD Nav, 7" touchscreen, Entune upgrades, premium sound, fake leather seats, dynamic range cruise control, Homelink mirror, Safety Connect, pre-collision system, and heads-up display which don't seem to be worth anywhere near the $7,525+ increase in pricing.

    ^^ "worth it" -- to who ?

I started from a Prius with those features, and then calculated the plug-in premium. Pricing seems quite reasonable to me for the plug-in part; and as for the other features -- some want them, and some do not.

    I agree with SageBrush.

I would add that this is the way Toyota has done business forever. They package stuff in standard groups and in doing so offer them at a reasonable price. That assumes that the buyer wants all that stuff. If you don't, you need to take a deep breath and decide if there is something in the package that you REALLY want. If not, the base model is nicely equipped and quite competitive in price.

I'll admit, since I'm an owner of a Gen II Prius, I made the mistake of comparing it against Prius V without the Advanced Technology Package initially. However, even after taking the Advanced Technology Package into account, it still seems like a very high premium.

To start, there's no Prius with those features since the Plug-In Advanced does not have Lane Keep Assist, Advanced Parking Guidance System, and 17" alloy wheels when compared to a Prius V w/ Advanced Technology.

I think a reasonable and possibly generous conclusion is that the Advanced package is about the same as the Advanced Technology package. That still leaves the Advanced packages costing $2.5K more than the $5K Advanced Technology package.

I'm going to stretch my budget and get the Advanced Plug-In. The way I look at is the Five Trim with the Adv Tech Package is just under $35K. The Advanced Plug-In is about $5K more. So, I'll be paying about 5K extra for the Plug-In. The Advanced Plug-In has what I want, and I feel the price is within reason. (It's still cheaper than last year's Volt).

Prius PHV, Leaf and Civic NGV are the only qualified vehicles in California HOV lane.
