Installed Eibach Springs Today!

    I got around to installing my Eibach springs on my 10 Prius III. It was pretty straight forward. The fronts were very similar to my 09 Corolla in having to remove the plastic cover & metal tray pan to get to the top of the struts. Pretty easy but tedious. The rears were very simple. I just took out the lower shock bolt & I was able to push on the hub enough to wedge the OEM spring out. The Eibach spring is shorter so it was easier to slip it back in.

    The handling difference is amazing. I also installed my 16" winter wheels & tires that I used on my Matrix so I can see what effect the heavier wheels & tires have on my mpg over the next couple of months.

    Looks great man! And I like those wheels. I just installed my Eibachs today too. Did you measure before and after height to the fender?

    Very nice. The handling improvement is much bigger than the appearance change. :)

    I thought about it after I had already started. :eek: The drop is only 1.1" according to Eibach but the result of that inch is fantastic. The handling is 10x better from my initial drive.

    Did you use the stock shocks or did you upgrade those as well?

    Consider doing an alignment now. Zero out the toes and set the cambers to negative. I prefer -1.5 to -2.0 degrees. This will give the car even more grip on turns, not that we drive and turn aggressively with the prii but handling is even more improved with these springs and lower profile tires when you properly align your wheels.

    I was expecting a little bit stiffer ride, but then again on my old MR2 I think I had the Sportline package with hardly any travel. I still feel quite a bit of travel on the Pri. Do you have aftermarket springs on your MR2? If so, how do they compare to the Pri?

    I used the stock struts still since they only have 12k miles on them & the Eibach springs are a mild drop. :D

    I have Eibach springs on my MR2 also. I did recently try some TRD JDM springs but they were way too stiff & low for me so I put the Eibach springs back on. I'm much happier with them on with the Koni yellow struts. :D

    I installed my eibach springs about 2 weeks ago on my 2011. I think it does handle way better now. I have driven about 1100 miles since and it looks even better now that it has settled a bit.

    For the posters and OP who have done this: did you need any spring compressor to do this! Or just regular shop tools? Was it a one person job, or we're extra hands required? What was the total time for all 4 corners? I would like to do this myself. Is a rolling floor jack recommended?

    Spring compressors are needed for the front...they are not needed for the rear. A breaker bar (or air wrench), torque wrench, and various sockets are needed. I only needed extra hands to lower the rear housing to pop the springs in/out...so for me 99% one person job. Rolling floor jack works great and two jack stands.     I did it by myself in around 4+ hours. I have several sets of spring compressors so it was simple with my 2 floor jacks that I have. :D
