I know that there are a lot of tricks out there using just water - using newspaper, etc. but I prefer using an actual glass cleaner type of product to clean the windows. Any favorites out there?

Yesterday was a beautiful day to clean the car for the first time, and I used the Martha Stewart Glass Cleaner, followed the instructions, and it didn't leave streaks, but it seemed to do nothing for the water spots that were on the back windows (in particular the lower one), so I rewashed those windows with the turtle wax car wash detergent, dried them and tried a spray glass cleaner and that worked a bit better, but didn't clear them completely. Is there a better product out there?

If you can get a Griot's Garage catalog, you will see there is more products for cleaning glass than just cleaner and cloth ...

Griot's also has glass cleaning clay to remove water spots and other stuff.

For cleaner, I've used Stoners Invisible Glass which is really good.

I am quite fond of Plexus, I use it on the inside of all my windows because they are all tinted. I also use it to clean the dash, MFD, and the Nav. Screen. Introducing Plexus Plastic Cleaner Click on the can. I also use a microfiber cloth.

    +1 Stoner's Invisible Glass.

With any cleaner, the cloth you use is just as important, to ensure a clear result. Always use microfiber cloths on things like the NAV screen; on these surfaces, I use eyeglass lens cleaner solution.

I'm adding another vote for the Invisible Glass cleaner. I always use a microfiber cloth now too. If you keep an extra, and do another wiping of the windows (usually the inside) with it it'll usually prevent the streaking that you'll see with fog and headlight glare that might not show up otherwise.

Typically, I'll just use water on the inside, though. My windows are tinted, and the tint place recommended the invisible glass cleaner (which I'd used in the past on other vehicles) or water.

The dealer left a can of glass cleaner in my car after I picked it up. Brand name is American and looks pretty generic. Anyway, it comes out in a foam and works great. Yes, I also use special micro fiber glass cleaning towels.

I've been using Kleen Flo Glass Kleen, a foaming aerosol. It seems quite effective at removing film, can be used inside and out (wipes off clean if you overspray on dash). I also use a little on a cloth on the wiper blades. There's probably a lot of similar products, ie: same ingredients, different brand.

(the pdf link on above page shows ingredients)

    +1 on Stoners.
I was annoyed by the water spots and bought a window clay bar kit. Did a good job.

My only negative about Stoners is that it's an aerosol and technically releases more smog-forming chemicals into the air than the Prius I'm cleaning.

    Also pump bottles
Stoner Invisible Glass Cleaner With Rain Repellent, auto glass cleaner, rain repellent, rain repel, glass sealer, windshield glass cleaner

    and

The first time I used Stoner's was on a several year old car with fairly clean looking, streak free windows. On the insides of the windows, particularly the windshield, Iit took a few applications of Stoners to completely remove some mystery crud from the glass. Probably built up deposits from the plastic in the car outgassing, it wasn't a smokers car. Regular glass cleaners hadn't touched the crud, whatever it was.

My CT200h has an OEM applied water repellant shield. I wonder if the good glass cleaners like stoners are safe products for my car.

    Informed opinions ?

My 2010 Prius V has front side windows with OEM water repellent glass and I've never experienced a problem with different cleaners I've used. I even Rain-X'd over the OEM coating and no problems there as well.

You should check your owners manual and see what it recommends. If that's the same stuff that is on the higher end Prii, then people have damaged it.

What have they damaged it with? I've used Stoners, Griots Garage and Rain-X glass cleaner with no problems. Did they mention if they ruined it with a glass cleaner or with a glass polish or ice brush or some other type of instrument?

The only damage I have seen is from scraping.

Sprayway glass cleaner is the best I've used. You can get it at places like Ace Hardware or online. ~$3.50 for a large can.

I think all the glass cleaners leave a little to be desired, but Invisible Glass works pretty well for me. At least as well and probably better than the others. I use the spray bottle, but not for environmental reasons, it just seems to work better for me.

I like Stoner's but its pretty costly. I've seen bums do an amazing job on newspaper and windex which shocked me.
