Awesome!!! Came out a bit early! However, is there any info on interior colors? I hope it's available in beige Softex.

My only real disappointment is that heated mirrors are only available on the Four.

Only one interior color from what I recall. The black fabric or the greyish SofTex.

The 60/40 folding rear seat on the 2 is an odd thing to keep from the 1. This means the car starts at $19,900 for me.

Loaded it's about $800 less then a 2012 prius 2. I think the prius c 2 will be the bigger seller in the c lineup.

    EVO 4G ?.

Toyota is expecting the Prius c Two and Three to be the bulk of sales. 80% of total sales.

i think pricing is great... for $20k you get everything you need in the car, and more... and even package 3 is priced great at 21.5k, $5k less than similar Prius III.

If it is 2nd car the family, many car will do well with base one too.

I find it encouraging how every review i tested said it was easy to reach 50 mpg and easy to get more...

Power mode is just a sensitivity setting on the accelerator, just like Eco. You want to go faster, push harder. The Prius C's net output is < 100hp (just barely), so I wouldn't suggest PWR would be all that necessary.

IMHO - Power just requires finer motor control for your foot, and encourages you to be less fuel efficient.

I'm pleasantly surprised that the 1NZ-FXE engine made a reprise in this car, albeit at a slightly lower max RPM (4800 vs 5000). Fortunately it only cost 4 total HP (maybe more in the beltless design).

My Insight which has less than 68 HP, can do just fine with power when downshifted to 3rd or 4th on the highway. I'd imagine the Prius C is much the same.

1 may be mainly for fleet sales as it is in the prius liftback. With the hard to regulate gas pedal, cruze control is the key feature they are holding back.
upgraded head unit with Nav+smartkey in the 3 for not that much extra. It will get split between the 2 and 3.

It would be strange to need 3 responses from less than 100 ponies. No power button is probably better:D

I"m not sure why going back to an older engine design is good, but beltless reduces parasitic losses. Its only drawback is more expensive components, the last was requiring electric water pump.

It's typical of subcompacts. While some of the older tests were at relatively low speeds and rates of acceleration the newer tests emphasize some harsh acceleration and high speed driving that works a small engine particularly hard.

Oh nooo, really? :( Too bad. I've had dark grey interior in both of my Prius' and frankly, I'm soooo sick of it.

For the C, I really want a Black Sand Pearl Package Four with the 16-inch Allow Wheel package and beige Softex. Guess if dark grey is all that will be available, I'll have no choice.

they are not going back to it, NZ series is still on the market... smaller car, smaller engine.

Also did you read in tech spec how engine itself is 70% different from Gen2? No? Go over there :)

The fxe model was discontinued with the gen II prius for the more powerful more efficient 2zr-fxe. Now they are going back to it, that isn't so hard to understand, and was in the post that I replied. The 1NZ-FXE ended in 2009 and now is being back for this car.

Yes, I have read about it, and replied before asking about the 70%. Toyota has said the engine has the same pistons, valves, valve timing, block - with a movement for the ebh and a different control algorithm lowering peak rpm and horsepower. That hardly is a major change, now is it. On the gen I to gen II they increased rpm but kept the engine mainly the same since 1997 with some changes to valve control and timeing. This is in contrast to the newer design of the 2zr, but hey they get to reuse all the stuff to make it cheaper. If you know of major changes other than moving a hole, please let me know.

Outside the engine they appear to have changed the water pump and added cooled egr and ehr. They may have also changed the oil pump, but it is chain driven and not the newer gear driven one in the gen III. Nothing wrong with keeping it less expensive, but lets not get carried away and think that reuse of the engine is moving forward from gen III.
